I am neither for nor against the use of kodi but at some point producers of content are going to make a move, right? It clear why people are buying Fire sticks in droves. How long until a move is made against kodi enabled streaming channels (or until someone leans on Amazon to prevent kodi from being loaded)?

Technically Kodi isn't a supported app on fire devices (it's just easy to get around), so I'm not sure if Amazon can actually be liable for illegal content streaming.

Amazons making too much money off of it I doubt they would block it out. I do feel like it's eventually going to get cracked down. Internet providers probably.

Yes, but the flow of money away from content producers will cause something to break, somehow. They're not just going to let that keep happening. Napster was awesome and now it's gone.

Kodi can be put on other systems

I used it with my computers long before my Fire stick

Apparently it can be used on Xbox one now.

I think you overestimate how many people actually do this. It's kind of like how many people root phones. Even people who have it still have other means of TV.

I bought my FireTV for both Amazon Prime, Plex, Netflix, and cutting the cord. I did not cut the cord for Kodi.

The popularity of Sling TV, DTVNow, and PSVue is driving sales of the FTV. Kodi is nice, but it's not the sole reason I own a streaming box. If Kodi was disabled tomorrow, it wouldn't change much of what I do.

I do think ISPs will crack down on it. However, as mentioned in another thread, hopefully it's not before they realize the value stream available and begin to offer a legal alternative.

Amazon has sold 20 million Fire TVs or something ridiculous like that. If their asses are covered on paper who would have the leverage to make them patch it? People would just go out and get a different box that still supports it. It would have to be the ISP's.

Kodi is just a media server, it's the add-ons and illegal streaming sites in other countries that enable the activities the MPAA wouldn't like.

I think the real threat to Kodi is it let's people leech from these free streaming sites which aren't actually free. When a large enough amount of people start accessing these streams through Kodi more of the streams will start requiring people to login.

This is a really weird question to me. How does Amazon Fire have anything to do with Kodi?

Your premise is "Since Amazon FireTv uses Android OS it can be liable for Kodi downloads"

With this logic, the thread title could have been, "How long until Google/Kodi comes crashing down"

Technically, if I go to Google and search Kodi, I can easily download it to my PC. Cool, so Google is in trouble now!

Amazon doesn't promote it at all. They just use Android for the system.

After Napster there was WinMX. After WinMX was shut down, it was revived underground. There are still torrent sites to download music. And if all else fails, you can use a youtube downloader to capture the music.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

It will become comical when all of the folks that preach about cutting the cord get their own cord cut

Once password sharing and Kodi are shutdown, the streaming content providers like PSVue and Directvnow and gonna grow immensely

Not really. Majority of people I know do not use KODI as their primary source of tv.. only a supplement to what they already have.

How many people consider these as methods for cord cutting?

In the real world outside of the tech board not that many people know about Kodi. I use it, but I don't have a single aqauntince that even knows what Kodi is. It's not a big enough problem to hurt the entertainment industry yet.

I don't know man, I was sitting in radio shack/Sprint the other day add just in the time I was there had two different people come in looking "for one of those firestick things"..the workers there knew about it and about kodi..almost everyone at my work knows about kodi I guess because we tend to spend a lot of time at the hotel.

I would say that the majority of people that have enough tech savvy to cut the cord also wither use kodi or know about it. Actually, I bet you'd be hard pressed to find anyone that has dropped traditional tv service (cable or satellite) for some sort of cord cutting setup that doesn't know what kodi is.

I use Kodi along with PSVue. About the only thing I use Kodi for is to supplement channels such as CBS, NBC, and I mainly use it like a DVR to watch network shows.

All of these shows are available for free via antenna. Who thinks using Kodi for this purpose is "wrong"?

I'm not saying it's wrong or right, baw. I'm just saying that you can get stuff for free that isn't available free otherwise. And the people that make that stuff are going to put the kibosh to that at some point.
