How good is AT&T U-verse

Live in Clinton, Ms. Getting away from Comcast and going with AT&T 1G Internet, U-verse, and Unlimited Home Phone service for $10 per month less cost. AT&T just recently installed their 1G fiber network in my neighborhood so all 3 services will come through the fiber network.
I'm sure the Internet and Phone service will be good. Can anyone tell me what to expect from AT&T's latest version of U-verse?

I live on the Reservoir in Brandon and U-Verse was a disaster. Never worked.
Now I have Direct TV and it's so much better. Haven't had an issue

I'm not far from you. I'm bundled with wireless, internet, and TV through ATT/Uverse and haven't had a single issue. It doesn't go out in bad weather and is reliable.

I have one of the shittiest forms of U-Verse (fiber to the node, copper to the house, limited bandwidth), and it's absolutely perfect in terms of reliability. I had to ditch their internet service because it's too slow for me (keep in mind, the fastest available in my neighborhood is 18mbps, so you won't have that problem at all).
If I had one complaint about the TV service, it would be that the set-top boxes are laggy. I've had the same hardware since 2010, and even when they replaced my boxes, they sent me the same damn models. I would hope they're giving new customers better equipment nowadays. The one wireless receiver I have is faster in terms of navigation/changing channels, vs. my other ones that only use ethernet. Also, the interface kind of sucks, but you get used to it.

I spent an hour on the phone with Comcast this morning because I saw my next bill was going up $20/month because they were increasing equipment fees. I basically had to lose 60 channels to keep it around the same price.
I'm looking at switching to cspire fiber.

Have it hear in Florida. I wish I could take it with me when I move back to Louisiana. I love the internet and Tv, don't have the phone.
Only problem I ever had is that the home network router they give you didn't work with me or the wife's Iphone or our iPad but perfectly with the pc.. Tried to mess with the settings as much as I could. Ended up turning off the wifi signal and buying a router and putting it in the living room thanks to the main box having an Ethernet port for internet. Also the additional boxes are wireless and get their signal from the main one which is handy when I want to grill, drink, and watch games on the back patio.

I went from Uverse TV to DirectTV. Big mistake, rain knocks this shite out frequently despite 99/100s on the satellite strength.
Uverse internet is solid, no complaints. I have the 1gig internet and get 200-250mb wifi and 500mb through ethernet

Wow. Opposite for me. U-Verse would go out when there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Equipment had to be replaced multiple times. I've had DirectTV for about 5 months now and no issues.

Well are you ok with signing a contract with belzebub's minions? I hate it AT&T with a passion.

When I first got U-verse I had some issues with the TV "freezing" during peak times, but they sent somebody out to fix it and haven't had any problems since.

Unfortunately our stb's have not and will not change. Since the plan is to ultimately stream everything you will not see new hardware. All of the stb's I install have probably been refurbished a handful of times at least.
The only new hardware you will see are the gateways possibly but in many cases customers are still using models that are around 3-5 years old.

I have had almost zero problems with Uverse. Mid city Baton Rouge.

I had U-verse for both TV and Internet for about 3.5 years and just switched (3 weeks ago) to DirecTV for TV and kept U-verse for internet. U-verse TV was stable most of the time, but we'd have to reset (UnPlug) the boxes at least once every 45 days. My reason for the switch is the never ending "rate creep" that you would never know about until the bill came in $30 higher than the prior month. I would call at least once a year and bitch to get the rate back down to the $130 range after it had crept to around $185. I am now on a two year plan at $117 for TV and Uverse internet. Yesterday during the monsoon we had, the UF bowl game glitched out a few times which was frustrating. BUT I have had DirectTV in the past and it seems the reception is slightly better when the rain hits. My 2 cents

Small town (5000) user of U verse - we'll have a prolonged outage (12 to 24 hours) about once every two months. Over time, the outages are getting fewer and farther between.

GF has it for internet and TV and she's content with it for the most part, although the TV picture will piexelate once in a while. OTOH I have it only for internet (TV not available) and it's been totally unreliable. Random loss of signal and modem resets. Sometimes out for hours at a time. I think it's due to antiquated infrastructure in my area and ATT's unwillingness to upgrade. If I had another alternative I would ditch it.

It seems that Uverse and internet service varies from neighborhood to neighborhood. I've heard such polarizing reviews. I've never had their internet, but I've had Uverse for about 3 years (in Zachary) without a single outage that I know of.

I've been tempted to switch but AT&T has a hard time not screwing things up.
Comcast at least works.

Uverse TV might not be around long.
AT&T U-verse is the brand of fiber-based triple-play telecommunications offerings from AT&T that includes broadband internet, telephone, and video services. After last year's acquisition of DirecTV, the largest satellite TV provider nationwide, AT&T has been phasing out its U-verse subscriptions and pushing customers towards DirecTV. The shift is part of a cost savings effort by AT&T and an attempt to capitalize on the DirecTV brand. Satellite TV has lower hardware and programing costs than fiber-based TV, so the more customers AT&T switches from U-verse to DirecTV, the more money the company will save. According to CFO John Stephens, content is roughly $17 more expensive to provide for U-verse customers than for DirecTV customers. To redirect customers, AT&T has stopped building U-verse set-top boxes, and is coaxing prospective customers toward satellite options.
The company's efforts to switch customers are reflected in its recent financial reports. In the second quarter of 2016, AT&T gained 342,000 new satellite TV subscribers and lost 391,000 U-verse TV subscribers. The transition is part of a larger effort by AT&T to combine its services into a single entertainment hub, with internet, satellite TV, and wireless in one home device.
