TV's are up to date.

Can you really tell the difference between a $9 HDMI cable from Walmart and one that's around $30-$75?

An article I read a while back explained it like this, HDMI cables send a digital signal containing 1's and 0's. A more expensive cable can't make the 1 or 0 look better than a cheaper cable. The signal either comes through the cable or it doesn't.

One thing you do need to keep in mind is the version number of the cable. Higher version numbers are required for 3D and 4k.

Absolutely not. It's audiophile snake oil. The only time the hdmi cable matters is on super long runs and that's simply the type of hdmi cable.

I'm also in the camp that believes spending 1000's of dollars on interconnects and speaker cables is ridiculous. My favorite snake oil item are cable elevators.

Monoprice is all you need and they even sell on Amazon now so you don't get hit with the ridiculous shipping charges.

I prefer slim cables for components. Makes for a cleaner rack.

Just make sure it's at least spec 1.4.

They have special wire characteristics that aren't constrained by the regular laws of science and gives you a better overall sound.

This. I bought all of my HDMI cables from Monoprice and they look the same as the prior cables I had from Best Buy. I'll never not buy cable from Monoprice unless someone can somehow undercut them on price.

This is correct. HDMI is a digital signal that is either on or off, there is no better or worse
