Alexa now (officially) works with Logitech's Harmony Hub, meaning it's a lot easier to get voice control over your home entertainment and automation devices. After you enable the Alexa skill on an Amazon Echo, Dot or other supported device, you'll be able to start and stop Harmony Activities, change channels and control devices using the AI assistant. Simple commands include "Alexa, turn on Netflix," or "Alexa, turn on my TV."

Not a huge deal but no more workaround needed. Just tested by asking to go to specific channels and it works great.

Can you buy a Harmony Hub to work along side their older remotes? (Harmony One, 900 etc.)?

I'm guessing that's a no, but thought I would see if anyone knew.

Wait, whaaaaaa????
How would this work? I can see where it could turn on your TV, receiver, Amazon Fire by an Activity that the hub would execute but how would Alexa know how to crank on Netflix or Hulu?

Jesus, if it can do that, I'm getting on today.

Yes and no. So I think the hub works with the Harmony Ultimate One but not anything older than that. So it's a no to Harmony One and 900 and anything older.
ETA: I know for 110% fact it works with the Harmony Ultimate One as that's what I have and use with my hub at home.

im close to the point where i would just rather use my phone. I don't channel surf on my directv nearly as much as i used to.

If i had favorites set up that is about all i would need. Plus my roku.

If it were just me, I hear ya. The wife refuses to use her phone to control things and for some reason needs a physical remote. And God Bless my in laws and my mother. If they don't have a remote to control the TV they freeze and lock up like they're incapable of doing anything else with their hands.
Quite entertaining actually.

Give me hard buttons. The remote I'm using currently has a free phone app and I never use it (except to turn the lights on/off off site) I just want to hit a button instead of unlocking my phone, opening the app, and then hitting a button.

I understand your point but i'm thinking it wont be too far from where a lot of it will be voice activated anyway. Thus the need for a hard button remote will go down even further.

So wait though, you can say "Alexa, watch Hulu" or "Alexa, watch Netflix" and it will know to launch those apps on something like an Xbox One S or an Amazon Fire TV?

ETA: How well does it work? If it works well, that seems like a game changer.

Haha doesn't work. It probably just communicates with the TV. Cant talk to Netflix itself.
