All of the door speakers in my silverado have gone out. I need to replace them. Can anyone give me some good recommendations on some speakers to buy. I use to be into this stuff, but it's been a long time since I purchased any car audio stuff.

You willing to potentially drill some holes in a sail panel? If so, go components. If not get some Hertz dcx or Polk db. I have the Polk MM components and love them.

Morel, Image Dynamics, Focal, Hertz. It's really about what you are looking for.

Need to set a budget first, but I like silk-domed tweeters. Less harsh to listen to

Amen. I don't know why higher end speakers mostly use them.

Don't spend a lot of money if you aren't upgrading anything else in the system.

Almost anything you buy will be better than the factory stuff.

Anything higher end won't meet its potential without enough power.

I don't really need a component set since I have tweeters over the dash. I just like the bass I got from the factory sets, and I would like to have tht on the new set. I am not upgrading anything else. Maybe the radio if I keep the truck long enough.

Polk DB would be nice. They go lower than most.

Budget really needs to be addressed.

I am not trying to spend over $250 per pair. Again, i am not trying to go all high fidelity. The factory speakers all sounded great when they worked. Had great bass for factory speakers, and the highs are good too. So I don't need an amp, sub or a component system.

I'd do some Polk MM 65 6.5s in the front and some Polk DBs in the rear. Those have really good midbass. I'd suggest running an amp later to really bring out the quality.

Alternatively you can run some Hertz ECX in the front and dcx in the rear.

Or image dynamics ctx65 and the cheaper version in the rear.

In the 6x9 look into the Hertz 6x9 or JBL gto939.

I've never heard of Hertz. The prices look good though. I appreciate the help. I doubt that I will ever put any of this on an amp in this truck at least. Maybe when I get a new truck eventually. I use to be into the car audio scene. I was a fan of Boston Acoustic products back in the day.

I have a set of Boston Acoustic pros and a matching amp stashed away in a closet. They are right next to two sets of Polk momo components and a momo 12" sub. One day I'll have an old car that needs them.

Another suggestion for Polk. I put a pair of 6.5s in my soundbar in the Jeep. Great mid-range and a little bass. Mine were the slim mount version. They sound great, and also a little weather resistant, which I needed in the Jeep.

I replaced the factory grills as well.
