Blu-ray player for Macbook

I'm looking to purchase an external blu-ray player for my macbook. I have a lot of travel coming up and was wondering if anyone here has purchased one. From my Google searching, I see that there are some options and it seems like I need to purchase some software, as well. Just not sure what would be a good brand. I'm not too concerned about cost.

I have an LG one I grabbed from best buy. I think it was $90. I haven't tried a blu-Ray, but it says it plays it. Mac had DVD player software already that plays regular DVDs. It may play Blu-Ray without extra software. Very skinny and no problems.

Thanks. I knew it played the DVD with built in software. Never was able to try it with Blu-Ray.

Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just digitally convert your movies and save them on a thumb drive?
