re: Will there be another Jedi Knight game? - SouthBendBob
Don't even want to know how many hours I put into Jedi knight academy online. Probably well over 1000 hours. Played religiously starting in 2004 and didn't really stop until around 2013. ...

Yeah I didn't hate ch. 13 either. It was a very overwhelming time for Noctis and that chapter did a good job to capture his struggle....

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
Weird since most people feel this is an improvement over 13. They had some innovative ideas in this game. It just was missing the overarching, lengthy FF narrative that past games had. I realize this game had to be rushed, but I've enjoyed it much more than any other FF that I've played since X....

Chapter 13 took me nearly 4 hours, but I didn't hate it. I understood it to be what a trial of sorts and made my way through it....

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
It's ok to be linear, just as long as it doesn't restrict your sense of freedom. If you are always walking along a narrow path to your goal, then you lose that feeling of freedom and feel that you're playing a forced narrative. Uncharted 4 was mostly linear, but the large areas with multiple rou...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
Yes. Also keep in mind this game was never intended to be a numbered installment. I realize it has been in "development" for 10 years, but maybe the story elements and gameplay were meant to be an experiment or test, as you mentioned. Maybe they wanted to test people's reaction to a shift in g...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
I agree to an extent. SE is stuck between a rock and hard place. There was a time when they set the standard for how an RPG plays. The earlier games had a nice balance of gameplay and story telling, which the recent titles have struggled with since they can't seem to figure out what their identity...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
Musick, your last paragraph pretty much sums it up. We all grew up playing FF games a certain way and that sets our expectations for future installments. Whenever we see change that we don't agree with, we're tell them to "get off of my lawn."...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
I'm only in chapter 3, but I had read that once you get to like chapter 6 or 7 the game doesn't let you return to the over world to explore and do side quests until you finish the game. Doesn't seem like that's the case if you're able to explore in chapter 11. Do you have access to the entire wold...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
The wait mode can seem a little off-putting at first. Especially if you played the demos and you're used to the active combat. It took me a couple hours to figure out how I wanted to use it. The main thing to realize about the wait system is that the main difference is that the action freezes w...

re: Final Fantasy XV Thread - SouthBendBob
They even have a whole skill tree dedicated to the "wait" mode style of combat. I'd recommend that everyone try it. It's helped me gain tons of AP and definitely improves the strategy aspect to combat. For example you can use "Libra" to quickly determine an enemies weaknesses and resistances. ...
