I have had it out with them the last few months for throttling me. They says it because of limited bandwidth, but I can go to a tiered plan.

I asked them if they would have more bandwidth simply because i changed plans...

ETA: I will say this. I have VZW and ATT iphones, the ATT (when not throttled) is twice as fast as the VZW.

I got off unlimited bc they basically throttle your data so bad that you won't go over 10 gb

I did too. It's also nice to be able to tether without jailbreaking.

Main reason I'm considering it.

So is this an incentive, or a forever thing?

I could get by at any past month with 20 GB of data. But if I can get 30 GB at 15GB price, it would be well worth it. And it would stop them from throttling me.

I'm at 5.5 GB this month and am getting throttled until the 5th. Wife is probably at 4-7 GB, and other two phones are less than 2 combined.

I just did it. Website says it will last until end of Oct. I have a family of 5 on my lines. We were busting the 10gigs regularly. Bumped from 10 to 30 for $27 more per month. It was as smart call for us.
In short you pay $130 for the shared 30Gigs plus $15 per phone line.

My unlimited data was always throttled to about 500 kb/s once I got too high for the month. Makes the highspeed network pretty useless. Is everyone here saying to never give up unlimited not getting throttled?

Correct - nothing new on the 10gig plans.

Yeah at 3-5 GB it gets throttled down to about 60 KB/s. It's a freakin ripoff. You can't even stream music with that shite.

I'd pay a few extra bucks to get off unlimited if I wasn't on a business plan. At least I don't pay for it

Will ATT allow you to merge plans together and still be on family plan? For example, if I know someone that currently has a family plan, could their family get on my family plan and we just pay one bill?

But the 30GBs last until when? Are you locked into that contractual price forever?

I'd be willing to give up my unlimited for 30gbs shared, but not if its only for 12 months or some other BS.

ETA: meh, just read it's $40/line for 2 year contract pricing. That's ridiculous. I'll likely stick with unlimited.

Rule of thumb with AT&T. There is no scenario in which the company wants to save you money. There will be no scenario in which switching from your unlimited plan benefits you, unless you really, really want annual upgrades and phone rentals.

I broke it down and with my three phones, I would pay the same. Right now I have two phones unlimited and one with 3 GBs. If phones were built to last, then I would probably switch. I like how they didn't raise the 10 GB plan which is what most everyone is on.

I changed from the 10gb plan to the 30gb plan for just $22.50 more/month (I get 25% discount through my work).
