18Gbps has got to be better for data transfer from the cable box, dvd and media player, right?

Are the prices that significant ?

4k blu rays will transfer at 128Mbps for 100 GB disks. Cable box will not transfer anywhere near that speed. 18Gbps seems like overkill marketing fluff.
I get HDMI's from here:

About $17.10 a piece for a 6 footer. It's not the price.
I just want to know if it will be an improvement over what I have now.

The only worthwhile HDMI upgrades are:
- HDMI plus Ethernet..*if* you have devices on both ends that can use this
- Redmere if you need a really thin cable for some application
- In wall rated HDMI if you are running the cables through the wall and you want to do it the right way.
In any of those cases the cables are still under $10 at monoprice so I have bought all of those types just to have on hand of I ever need them.

Monoprice is running them at 15% off.

The AmazonBasics cables are quite thin and flexible.

monorpice 99 cent shipping > amazon 'add on' product minimum order bullshite.

Plain old cable > active cable unless you really, really need the latter.

i work in the TV biz and manage accounts that sell home theater
they all buy $4-5 HDMI cables from monoprice and sell them from anywhere from $50-80 a piece to high end customers. they just add it to the bill and they say they never say a word
same with the TV mounts and surge protectors. they tell the customers they are getting the "best high end cable in the biz" lol
said it works every time

$2,000? That's a cable for peasants.

At least for 10K you get free shipping. That's pretty generous of them.
