No, because the guy came to my house 3 times this weekend and while nice about got his ads knocked out by my side for waking the baby.

Seriously, 3 times in one weekend. 4 visits over the past few months.

I didn't have time to talk to him tonight. Said he could come back tomorrow. Sounds like they are persistent.

Don't use it but saw it in action at a house in Houston. Seems legit but borderline excessive.

I rarely trust stuff sold by d2d salesman

He described it as very cool but consider me skeptical

we switched to this service about a year ago, they helped get my old adt system up and and going - i had replaced some windows awhile back and the magnets could never seem to match up. They were persistant as hell - gave up discounts. We don't really use the alarm system when we leave the house but its monitored for fire etc. I really like the phone app, i can adjust the thermostate remotely and lighting as well.

Same thing happened to us a few weeks back. Three different sales people came by over 4 days. Woke up my 4 month old all three times. I was very unhappy about it the third time. Took to Social Media and complained, haven't had them back since.

I had a guy come to my neighborhood a few weeks ago. I had been drinking a little and pretty much put him to shame. Their service is around $50 a month. I pulled out my phone and started showing him all the apps that I used for free. All he could come back with was, well was my presentation good? I said sure, but I'm the wrong guy to try to sell this to. I'm sure CAD would have made the guy feel worse than I did.

About the only benefit to them is that they can do everything in 1 app. I use 4 different apps.

What's your end goal with their services?

Is there another thread about what you and CAD use? I do like the services Vivint offered but I'm definitely not paying their price and being locked into a long term contract.

They were banned from doing business in Louisiana and also paid some serious fines in Arkansas. They say that "we're the last state they've come to," to do work because we outlawed from doing so due to misrepresenting and pushy sales tactics.

Just FYI - They take kids about to go on their Mormon Mission or just back from their Mormon Mission and train the heck out of them to be aggressive door-to-door types. You can purchase the products on your own and using YouTube install and have them up and running for free for only the cost of the products. They charge $59.99 for their bare minimum service.

They used some really shopworn sales techniques but they're persistent. I had to sort've escort the guy out of my home after he invited himself in. Then he said he'd be there until 9pm and wanted to come back by if I had any questions. I asked for literature that had prices on it and he didn't even have any.

Did some Googling and they're a crap company.

You can check out the Wink hub thread. The Wink hub is supposed to connect different brands of devices so you only need to use 1 app, but there are some issues on it. You can also try to find some of the wifi thermostat threads.

Personally I use:
Honeywell wifi thermostat (Wink can control it, but I like the Honeywell app better)
MyQ garage door opener and light switches (Wink app will control the garage door opener, but not the light switches, so I use the MyQ app)
Schlage Connect door lock (I use the Wink app for this)
Foscam IP cameras (There are many free IP cam viewer apps)
EnvisaLink module on my Honeywell alarm system (There is no app, but there is a mobile webpage. Compatible with select Honeywell and DSC alarm systems.

i had similar experience. young guy caught my wife when i wasn't home. she said to come back later and when he did, i told the guy i would need to review some literature and consider it. he had none and never came back.

my friends down the street got it and were stuck paying the bill after they moved. the contract was 2 years and it was very expensive.

fyi i pay $25/mo to a local company. that includes an app that controls my alarm and alerts me if anything happens around the house.

Got their services as an upgrade from my old ADT. Sales tactics were pushy and annoying. The tech arrived at 10pm to install the hardware so I told them I'd set up an appointment to have it installed. Once installed everything worked for 3 hours before the doorbell camera stopped working. I immediately called customer assistance and they tried to set me up with an appointment a month later to have it fixed and only gave me one for the next day when I refused and told the lady I'd use the "3 business days to cancel" clause at the bottom of the contract if I couldn't get service immediately. The tech never showed up. Service cancelled, three phone conversations with the sales rep later I finally had a tech out a week later to get the equipment back.

This was in May, and from what I hear is pretty typical for them.

Thanks for all the replies. I will tell him I'm not interested. I really don't want to be locked into a contract for 4 or 5 years.
Will check the wink hub thread. Hopefully will get some good do it yourself advice.

Which of Vivant's services peaked your interest? It might be helpful to others that search Vivint to have some solutions in this thread.

I know for me, it was the doorbell camera. That and being able to unlock my house remotely from my phone would be nice.
