Even if you dont need one....I think thats a pretty good deal for a gift or for kids. Heck...im just going to have it sit on my coffee table.

Anyone have experience with this tablet?

I'm pretty sure that's its regular price.

I have an older Fire 7, it has the same size/resolution screen but a slower processor and older OS. It works great for watching NetFlix/Prime and light gaming. If that's your use case scenario then at $50 I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I'll use it for SlingTV, Netflix, PrimeVideo, Reading, maybe a few games.

I think you need to know what you want a tablet for before considering it. If this is what you use to play games on the couch or watch movies when you travel it's great. But you're not going to be face timing, and the lack of google apps/not being an ipad probably means you wont be emailing or messaging, so it definitely is missing a lot. But being only $50 makes it's limited use OK, even ideal. This seems perfect for kids. You can get enough for the whole family for the price of one iPad mini.

how would one of these be for facebook only? My mom does nothing but facebook, and all she has is her iphone 5. How would this work for her if i turned her iphone into a hot spot, and her use the tablet to get on facebook?

I have had one for my kids for a while. They have the BEST child lock system I have found for a pad product. They play Minecraft on it and other games and it seems to work good. My wife uses it occasionally to read. For $50 you cant go wrong with it IMO.

Got mine in the mail and I have to say it does what you would expect for $50 and more.

It has more apps than people give it credit for. The new speed reading thing is cool.

Pros:
speed reader
Streaming video
Books
Mail

Cons:
Browser is slow
No data
Not much storage
Camera sucks (like camera phone from 2005)
Not the fastest interface

I bought one just to use for browsing, messenger, and fantasy football on my couch rather than my phone. I'm pleased with it. I bought that six pack and knocked out a lot of my Christmas shopping

I have no experience with any tablet or smartphone other than iOS. Can I download apps like Instagram, Facebook, and ESPN fantasy football? If it can do these things, this seems like a great price for just something to use for browsing while on the sofa watching tv.

You need to check the Amazon App Store for Fire Tablets to make sure they aren't missing something you need. LINK One of the drawbacks of the fire tablets has been lack of support, although that is improving.

I'm on my second Fire Tablet. I had the original one from several years back, and ordered the 6 earlier this year. I was tired of a bulkier tablet, no camera, etc. After playing with my wife's ipad mini, I ordered the Fire 6. It is really thin and light. I do a lot of reading on mine. Probably use it for that the most. It has Facebook, and you can load Instagram to it. There are several apps available as well. I use it for watchESPN, let the kids was Prime shows, Netflix, and WatchDisneyJR. If you have a Fire box or Fire Stick, you can start something on the tablet, then switch it to the stick pretty easily. I also watched some of the streaming games during March Madness on it. If you don't care about Facetime and all that, it is great. I mainly have it for a reader and use a couple of other apps with it.

You can also download prime content to it. I did that for a long car trip back in the summer. Put a few movies on it, and the only catch is that once you start it, it will give you 48 hours to finish it. But that feature is well worth it if you have kids. I put 3-4 full length movies on it and they watched some on the drive to the beach. So you don't always need wifi for content like that.

So I picked one of these up for $35 during the black friday sale to tinker with once I read that the scene got CM12.1 running on here.

Pretty easy process and it becomes a nice cheap tablet. Sure the screen resolution sucks, but it performs well running CM.

What is CM 12.1 and what benefits does it have? Is it like jailbreaking an iphone or something?

I bought one for $35 on black friday as well.

I had the Fire Kids Edition on order (same tablet with a few perks), but I canceled it. I had ordered it in late November before they went out of stock, but Amazon kept delaying the shipping date day by day. This week I got on their customer support chat to complain. They said it would ship Monday. Didn't ship Monday, so I got on Tuesday -- said it would ship Tuesday, then Wednesday, and last night I transferred to a higher-level rep who told me the truth that they'd oversold the tablets and mine likely wouldn't ship until the 22nd. I got a couple of months of free Prime and a $5 credit in the process.

By then I'd read enough well-thought-out reviews that I decided I'd be better off getting the LeapPad Epic for my daughter, as she's probably too young for most of the content in Amazon Freetime, and it's apparently difficult to sort through, block, or filter. I wanted time to mess around with tablet and assess it before giving it to her, but getting it after December 22 would way too late.

But anyway, I had also ordered a tempered glass screen protector for it, and Amazon refunded me for it and told me I did not have to return it. So, does anyone want it? It will fit the 7" tablet ($49 fire and $99 fire kids).
