Just out of curiosity I called amazon. While I know you have to take what customer service reps say with a grain of salt, she seemed to think these dates were more of a placeholder date until they can get more units ready to ship. Seemed fairly confident they would ship much earlier.

I thought the same thing about the Fire Stick. I have a smart TV with netflix and amazon prime video. What do I need a Fire Stick for? Well I ordered 2 since I could for half price, gave 1 to the MIL, and last night finally loaded TVMC on the other one. Lets just say I was up later than usual playing with it. I'm glad I ordered the Echo when I had the chance (delivery window sometime between end of May and first of July). I'm expecting that by the time I get it, there will be some great dev community add-ons out there.

So, I was supposed to get mine last Wednesday and that day I get an email saying it was delayed until the middle of March and they gave me a $10 credit. Then I get an email Friday saying it had been shipped. It came in yesterday and I still got to use my $10 credit.

I received mine yesterday, it was supposed to be delivered on March 26. Setup was a breeze and the Echo app makes things simple. Very slick device and the voice recognition works better than I expected. I'm guessing my primary function for it will be to play my Amazon Prime Music library, iHeartRadio and TuneIn on demand. You can use the voice command function to play selected artists, songs or playlists, pause, mute, raise or lower volume, advance to the next track- you name it- and the function works extremely well and is very fast pulling up music. Also cool for setting alarms, shopping lists and to-do lists. Speaker/audio quality is also way better than I expected. Definitely worth $99 (to me) but not sure if I would pay twice that much.

Why are these taking forever for delivery? This is insane. I ordered it in February and its not expected to be delivered until July. That's insane.

From what I could tell, they sent out a large batch of invites and gave them a delivery window between May and July. I'm not sure if they did it to be able to lower the cost per unit, or if they were doing a hardware v2. Haven't heard of anyone receiving one in the past month, so something happened to make the supply dry up.

I'd like an invite if anyone has one they aren't using. As a prime member I'm kinda pissed I didn't get an invite!

I don't think the invites are transferable. The place on the Amazon webpage that you request an invite just turns into an add to cart button. I think they send out an email saying you can now oder, but you only have a week to order it.
