I'm looking at the Samsung 8000 series in 65" myself.

You definitely don't know anything about Vizio at the very least.

It appears I upset some people with my Vizio is junk comment. In all fairness saying it's junk in 2015 is a bit over the top. It is a brand that started out as a warehouse club brand. It was intend to be cheap. The newer models with full-array LED-backlight are good values. It's the Kia of the TV world. I actually even own a 32" Vizio in my bedroom. I had to purchase all new TVs about 10 years ago, bought a Samsung for my living room and a Vizio for my bedroom. They both still work fine just like they day I bought them. The Samsung still has a better picture.

You are right I don't know much about Vizio because I don't know of any integrators that use them willingly. If I were buying a new 2015 TV today I would buy a 4K Sony. That's just my opinion. Same thing for a projector.

I bought one about 2 months ago. It's badass. I love it. Dont listen to the poors on here about not buying 4K. You need at least 25MB Internet speed to stream 4k for netflix.

I just got the vizio M55 and M65
I'm not a big tech guy. So the difference between Samsung is not noticeable to me.

The quality is good enough for me and the price is right. Amazon warehouse deals got me the M55 for 635 and the M65 for 1105

A little off topic, but what is usually the best time of year to purchase a TV?

After the Super Bowl. Especially open box deals.

Seems to be a good day to buy only if your requirements for a new TV is that it's a TV.

I've never owned a Sony TV, but it's interesting to see all the praise for the brand, the image quality in particular. Sony has sourced their panels from so many places (Samsung, LG, Sharp, AU Optronics) that it seems difficult to make a sweeping generalization on how the panels compare to those used in another brand. However, they do seem to heavily prop up the use of their proprietary X1 chip in 4K TVs, which can be an important distinction when watching barely-HD broadcast on a higher-end/flagship 4K TV vs. a budget-oriented model that cut corners everywhere else in order to fit a 4K panel at a certain price point.

I guess I'll be the contrarian post in this thread. My Sony 930c arrived this morning. In all honesty, other than the significant difference in size, the picture seems pretty comparable to the Sony 46xbr2 (2006) that it replaced.

My house is part of the Apple ecosystem, so I'm not sure the android apps are anything that will add anything to my user experience.

Hopefully, the dual remote setup grows on me, but as of now, the xbr remote still feels like the better built remote. (It's also seems strange that they decided to use the same cheap remote from their Walmart KDL series tvs for the flagship model.)

The speakers are the best I've seen on any tv, but that's a moot point for anyone with a home theater.

i would certainly recommend this tv to anyone with a dead tv looking for a replacement. However, i can't think of any scenario where simply upgrading a working 1080p tv to an ultra hd model can be considered rational.

My buddies talked me into buying 1080p when I bought my tv in 2007 because it would be replacing 720p soon. Almost 9 years later and it still haven't taken over.

I have two 1080p sets in the garage, replaced by new 4K sets. You're welcome to make an offer for one or both.

What? I'm not in the market for a TV.

But I guess this was your way of announcing to the board that you have two 4K TV's to watch homemade soccer videos.

ETA: But since you think both of those TVs are vastly inferior, I'll offer you $15 for both.

Does anybody besides LG even make OLED yet?

ETA: You're going to be waiting awhile
