Well put. . .

I was the same way . . . as a young teenager not really turned onto all the great smaller / independent label stuff going on at the time, The Replacements and REM were some proof that rock and roll and all that means for growing up American wasn't something that had already safely happened. . .

For full fledged stars, I'd add Tom Petty to that list as my Byrds.
