Where does the MLS plan on expanding next? Also any updates on a team happening in NO? I know it's a pipe dream.

There's a big soccer following in the Big Easy, plus you have Tulane's new stadium. I think the city can do better than the Jesters.

Any input appreciated.

Supporting the Jesters is probably step 1 in seeing if the community cares about professional soccer ... not just club ball

Sacremento, San Anton, Austin, Indy, or St. Louis.

So no.

MLS doesn't need to expand.

Jesters play on wed. Come on out. I will be wearing a purple parrots shirt. I will purchase you a beer. Need to support the lower levels and grow from there.

No one cares about the Jesters. They've been here approximately 12 years (I think) and attendance is not very good. They're a very average to below average team, so that doesn't help create a buzz. They have one win in 6 matches so far this year and are 20th out of 24 teams (although lost of teams have played 8-10 games already).

Ridiculous that STL still hasn't gotten their shite together for a team.

I agree...so much history in the city, especially with the 1950 WC team. Great amateur scene. Could have fan support/rivalry with KC/Chicago. Literally everything is there...except investors, due to the city failing to support the rams.

Garber has all but said that they would get a team with any sort of legit ownership group.

Its insane. I was trying to watch the last game of the finals at a popular bar in Soulard and they weren't even showing it because of the womans world cup.

Soccer is huge here and a downtown stadium would be legit. Shame they can't get it together on that joint project.

I assume Nashville might be ahead of NOLA?

Suspect with Atlanta though, MLS would be content to just monitor how it goes.

After Atlanta and Minnesota, the presumed leaders are Sacromento, San Antonio, and St. Louis.

But that doesn't mean NOLA doesn't deserve bigger/better. I could see NOLA sustaining an NASL team. The chance to play historical teams like the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers and NY Cosmos is pretty cool. But, you need to average 3000+ for that.

Anyone know the average attendance for NOLA last year?

Perhaps a good point..however not looking at any numbers I don't remember exceptional Sounder support before MLS.
I went to the inaugural game and was shocked at the turnout.

Its never been about the Rams. I know you think that you are onto something but the ironic thing is the best case scenario for an MLS team in St Louis is for the Rams to STAY and share the stadium with an MLS team. Its always been about not getting public financing support etc to build a soccer specific facility over an owner not wanting to invest because of the Rams. With the governor being able to extend the Ed Jones dome bonds to build a new stadium that knocks out two birds with one stone.

There is a legit ownership group in place now. They had a closed door meeting with Garber when he came to St Louis a couple weeks ago.

So the TLDR version is you still dont know what the hell you are talking about.
