What happened to that guy?

We always see overhyped young guys fail to live up to the hype, and we see players just fall off the map pretty regularly. Post a player who was once fairly high profile or hyped and a brief explanation of where they are now. I'll start:
Nick Powell was called the next Ronaldo by some people when he signed for United. After several loan spells, United released him in 2016. He's now at Wigan. After all the hype he received, he finished his Manchester United career with one goal.

Federico Macheda. I remember watching his first goal with Man United circa 2008-2009 at only 17. Kid was supposed to be the goat. He couldn't even cut it in the championship and is now playing Serie B in Italy.

Since we're doing Manchester United guys...
Bebe — who United signed after he went nuclear in a few friendlies in Portugal (with no other senior team experience to his name) — is at Eibar now, his eighth club in seven seasons. He only made two appearances at United.

I don't understand guys like Macheda. He scored a sick goal for united to help win a game against Villa when Brad Freidel was playing for them. He looked like he was comfortable playing in that league. I wonder, besides injury problems, what could make a player who is so successful at a young age flame out so quickly.

You guys member Michu? Ankle injuries derailed his career. He is currently playing in the Spanish second division for Real Oviedo where he has 3 goals in 15 apps this season.

Didn't Michu freely choose to go play in the lower Spanish tier to be able to play with his brother or something like that?
