You mean we don't get 6?

Have you seen some of the things said on this board? I would venture that 50% of some of these posters don't know that.

It's also a shame that we are going to run out Beckerdreads and Zusi against Columbia and be down 2-0 at half. Only to make subs in the 60-70th minute and lose 3-1. It's obvious that we have some talent coming up

Stupid stuff gets posted on here all the time (it's an Internet message board!), but everyone here has a firm grasp of the basic rules. This is hilariously off base.

I like this too but this is really a 4-2-3-1 formation you are talking about.

That formation is pretty close to a 4-3-3 as is. I think you're nitpicking here.

That lineup is nice and I'm trying to figure out after last night if I would prefer Dempsey or Zardes to take that last wing/forward spot. History tells me to go with Dempsey. I still think his best days as a player were at left wing.

I say that because I'd be very surprised if he plays Bradley wide and lets Nagbe play centrally in his place. Bradley will be in the center of the park.

Wait... what?

Are you operating under the premise that Nagbe and Bradley can't be on the field together in the midfield? Have you not been watching these friendlies?

That was supposed to be a 4-3-3 with Nagbe as the most advanced midfielder. Bradley will be the 6.

As for Dempsey on the wing, I think our current system relies on two wings to track back. Dempsey has been false 9ish lately, which works because Wood and Zardes are covering a ton of ground.

I like it but id prefer Nagbe starting. And that comes at the expense of Bedoya, Dempsey, or Zardes. Smart money is on Dempsey but I just like the idea of Zardes, maybe more than I like Zardes as he actually is.

I will admit that Zardes' work rate and propensity to get the ball in threatening positions are really good, it's just that his bulldozer first touch negates a lot of those positives.

It's no coincidence that almost every game, it seems like Zardes misses a sitter. That's kind of a compliment to him that he's getting himself in those positions. I think he'd do really well with Jozy as the target man, simply because even when Jozy is in the middle of his infamous scoring droughts, his passing in the final third to the wingers running off of him is very dangerous.

I'm trying to decide if I like Dempsey on the wing and Wood at striker or vice versa. Dempsey on the wing would require Fabs to be more conservative in his runs, that's for certain.

Dempsey can't play on the wing. He gives the team nothing defensively.

He's not a winger in the traditional sense. His defensive responsibilities would be lower. He played this role to great effect at Fulham.

Which is why I would rather someone like Wood out there who will put in a shift defensively

4 years ago. When he was 29.
