Now youth academy is a different thing no one is touch that. But thats probably all for show. Bc id rather have good coaches at developing players than some fancy buildings.

again, if you build nice things and provide nice amenities to your employees, you are going to attract better talent. is google in some dingy building or do they provide the best for their employees?

it is not all for show. the nice things help attract and retain talent, both on and off the field.

And same reason they may not have actually offered Pep the one year deal he was "considering" because of the timing with Ancelloti being available.

If Pep stayed one more year, there may have been no appealing coaches available (just like there were no appealing center backs available in this transfer window, so we sat idle despite Boateng/Martinez injuries)

Despite Heynckes winning the treble, Pep was still too good to pass up. Under he current circumstances (and with Pep never committing anywhere long term), Bayern had to pounce on Ancelloti.

Yeah, I think most people would choose 3 years of Ancelotti vs 1 year of Pep and 2 years of unknown, if given the choice.

Pep not taking a year off is a little surprising, though. I can see him being worn out after his contract is up in Manchester. He has a lot of work to do to rebuild City and the media is going to be all over his arse like never before.

I wouldn't be surprised if that last year of his contract at City has a lot of personal issues attached to it.

How about we let Pep decide which situations are or aren't worthy of his talents? This arbitrary nonsense about "history" is silly.

But yeah City are assholes for how they're treating Pell

Gonna be awkward when City win the domestic treble this year and the manager can't even keep his job

Love Pell, but everyone who followed his time at City knew it would be three years.

i mean

most top managers are only sticking around that long these days. it's the nature of the business in today's game

You sort of expect that out of Madrid but MC was supposed to be different with all their talk about "holistic" approach and all.

Maybe I'm just annoyed with the European approach to shuffling managers for and and all reasons, or sometimes no reason at all it feels like.

This is pretty lame. I always thought of Pep as better than this.

Did you watch the 2014 MLS all star game? Because he's not.

Could some one tell me the 4 titles Man city will be winning this season?

Please, do not even bring the CL into this, u turds got beat at home and on the road to, at the time, a mediocre Juventus club.

If they faced off right now, the old lady would skull frick that glory whoring team.

i think the one person who mentioned that city could win four titles this year, qualified that statement by saying that it is not likely to happen.

Should be interesting to see how he does in a league where there's more than one team that's competing for a title with.

Agreed.

Let us really put the Pep genius to the test.

yeah, something like that. i think it was a one year extension.

certainly doesn't diminish the fact that everyone has known that city has wanted pep all along.

Main talk at the time was that it was to quiet some of the speculation and have a bit of stability. Plus if Pep wanted a year off we would have Pellegrini locked up for another year. It makes sense too.

I'm not a huge fan of swapping managers but really thinking about it, it isn't that bad. Mancini lost the squad and there was a good bit of reported turmoil in the locker room and between Mancini and the board. There was a basis for it.

If this was going down with pretty much any manager besides Pellegrini it wouldn't bother me near as much. Yeah, we're getting Pep...but damn I love Pellegrini. He's about as classy as they get but if you have a chance for Pep, you take him.
