England is a shite squad full of choke artists and Iceland has been one of the most impressive teams so far in the tournament.

No doubt. It's not like this is a surprise. England always look like shite against low-block teams. They had a lot of trouble breaking down Wales where they were gifted one goal off an errant header. They aren't an elite team, and are closer to Iceland's level than they are to, say, Italy's level.

Regardless, I do love drinking their tears.

Kompany just said it's like the movie 300.

I was thinking the same thing while listening to Darke and McManaman. The English love to be over-dramatic about themselves.

England are so bad that Wilshere, who started once for Arsenal all year, made the squad and was one of their better players in the second half.

fricking Walcott almost made the roster. Their best attacker is Marcus Rashford.

England sucks.

This is the hardest pill for people to swallow. England is a mediocre team. Mediocre teams lose all the time. Iceland beat Netherlands twice in qualifying. They're a good team. You don't need to have 11 stars to be a good team.

This is also what pisses me off so much about people saying we never had a shot to beat Argentina.

Yea this is no Miracle on Ice or 1950 USA-England. England is a shite team full of overrated Spurs players.

yeah, kompany saying it's bigger than leicester is funny. anything can happen in a one-off game, but the improbable over an entire season is remarkable.q

Leicester is by far the biggest shocker that I can think of in sports. This game comes nowhere close to it. I would have been surprised if England won soundly, and that's what people were making it seem like was supposed to happen

Well we have a lot to learn about organization, tactical discipline, and commitment. Iceland is probably a better team than the US is, just by virtue of the fact they are superb at positioning and make no bones about how they play.

It's not that big of an upset at all.

Y'all are playing it down too much.

By some metrics, it's an absolutely enormous upset.
This wasn't a group stage game or qualifying match.

agreed.

i honestly don't even think england played that poor of a game. iceland is just a really solid club that made more plays tbh.

now, hodgson and his game plan/lineup was ridiculous, but i didn't think the players played that much differently than their usual average.

They're definitely better than we are.

Nobody wants to acknowledge that it's Jürgen Klinsmann's fault. How long does a guy have to manage a team before it has an identity? The excuses are that we don't have a deep talent pool and that's bullshite and teams like Iceland prove it.

England has lost four straight knockout stage matches. This isn't new territory.

They also compared it to Cameroon and Senegal in the World Cup. It's not near the same thing. Cameroon beat other African teams to make it, then they got lucky in one game. Iceland beat a bunch of other European teams then made the knockout stages as a second place team. This win was way more likely.

Yeah I don't understand it. Iceland were good defensively but they've definitely played a lot better going forward, especially in qualifying. They were pretty far from their 100%

And Iceland basically does what we use to do so well. I honestly miss BobBall.

I don't think we appreciated Bob enough when we had him. He's not the best manager in the world but he's very smart tactically and he gave us a fighting chance against the best teams.
