I am confident in Studge maintaining his health. He has taken a good, long recovery period and has not rushed back. Typically that is a very good recipe for maintaining post-op health over the long haul.
Unfortunately, I think our manager is just useless. He knows he is in over his head, but he is sticking to his style and not adjusting. I like the fight in him, he just refuses to change. That is ultimately going to be his undoing.
I would prefer Klopp, but Blasz would be fine in my eyes. We have enough talent that before Rodgers proved me wrong, I would think ANY a-hole could succeed. I guess any a-hole but this one, huh?
I just want to see a quick move. Why waste another season away? I am glad the front office is showing some degree of faith, but faith only gets you so far without actually doing something to move in the right direction.
FSG needs to make a move before this season is lost. The fans are already losing interest...

Sorry Byrdman. Jakub Blaszcyzkowski is a 29 year old winger from Dortmund. We are rumored to be in on him and I am a fan. I tend to watch the Bundesliga and he might not be a household name but he has undeniable quality in my very humble opinion. On a lighter note, how is everything going with your relocation. Are you good to go?

Oh shite haha. Oh well either way, Blasz probably would be a better manager. I don't memorize the players/managers names on non-English speaking teams. I usually frick them all up anyway.
I could give a frick less about bringing anyone in as anything other than CBs and FBs. Or a manager... Definitely a manager.
And yeah Jack, been here since March and things are fantastic. Hotter than a well digger's arse out here, but it is beautiful. Went with DirecTV and have had no issues with games unless they just aren't televised.
This whole Rodgers thing is driving me fricking nuts on a daily basis. The thought of UNUSED, not just misused, talent pisses me off hardcore. You can't convince me a three man back line with two strikers wouldn't have changed the game in any shape, form, or fashion. Hell, ANY adjustment... But sitting back and getting boned all game and being ok with it is infuriating.

I wanted to sleep on my thoughts because I usually react so emotionally to situations like this.
We have played 1 good half out of 8 this season. The other 7 have been mediocre or bad. Not even really ok.
I don't think the defense is a mirage as its clearly been a focus and the full backs are better defensive fullbacks - but that being said, its still not a good defense and 3 of the individuals have some big liabilities or are prone to complete @#$@# ups in their current positions.
Here's what I don't understand. Rodgers said the game plan and the way to defeat WestHam was to go wide and get behind them. If thats the case, Gomez starting makes zero sense. Not only will he never get behind them - he does not create width, has no left foot, and is a total liability for when someone else gets behind them on the left side because he can't pass the ball to them. I have witnessed at least 8 or 9 times this year where one of the AMs makes a run to great space on the left side while the ball is at Gomez's feet, and Gomez turns towards the center and makes a safe pass elsewhere. I mean, not even to the space that is opened from a defender rushing to cover the AMs run. Starting Gomez while also saying the width was key to attacking them - thats a manager who has no clue. Lets attack X but not have on the guys that can attack X.
Coupled with the long balls to Bentenke - I understand we need some and that the multiple approaches can make us harder to defend, but we are relying upon it way too often. Its like - well, no one has any idea how to be creative, so I guess we'll just send it long and hope for the best. Cou's individual moment's of brilliance is NOT a game plan or offensive system.
And as we saw Saturday, its not likely to work against that type of defense very well, and when it doesn't work very well, Bentenke may as well not be on the pitch for 80 or the 90 minutes he's there. He could go eat a sandwhich on the sidelines for all he's able to do.
Firmino - I'll reserve a final opinion on him as I think he's currently trying to hard, but... so far his defensive work rate has been hot and cold, his touch mostly poor, his dribbling ineffective, and passing mostly poor. If cou were available against ManU, I would say Firm needs to come off the bench as he's not good enough to start at this point. Unfortuantely Ibe is also ineffective, and we've loaned out Markovic - something I can't understand at all with Europa and the Cups coming up.
We are disjointed on offense, with one limited full back, a lack of creativity, and a slight push to hoof it up top more than previously. In addition, due to the lack of creativity, we hoof it up top way more than we should.
Now, we have a partially rebuilt squad - which is happening every year it appears, and it does take time to put it all together, but thats Rodger fault for having to keep buying a new squad each year anyway. The amount of money this man has been given and the waste so much of it has gone to is sickening. A competent manager would have us fighting for the top of the league with that much money being spent, coupled with the players we have on hand.
He will obviously be given more time, but will he survive through October? We could be bottom 6 or so of the table at that point, especially if he doesn't get 3 points in a couple of the home games.
My first call is to Klopp, but I think I also try to see what Gary Monk's thoughts are - he's doing a fantastic job at Swansea - and they barely missed a beat after losing their best offensive player.
I'm glad this game happened - it shakes us up from what we thought was working in the first three games. 2 goals in four games - one a moment of brilliance with zero build up and one a set-piece that should have been flagged for offsides. That means zero goals with any real teamwork or creativity. Meanwhile we have been fortunate not to concede more. It would be fair to say we could easily have 2 points instead of 7 at this point in the season. West Ham's beating will do one of the following -
Help prove to the owners that BR is not the man for the job as he's incapable of fixing this
Shake Rodgers up enough that he tries something different that either works or also fails
Either one is fine - but ultimately, it was a good thing because we could not keep playing the way we started the year and think it would be good enough.
Last thought - like Jack and likely several of you, I don't know what I did to be cursed watching the most boring of offensive diplays for so long from my two favorite teams (LSU and Liverpool). Thank God the Saints usually have a potent offense with Brees or I would be going insane.

Great thoughts. Agree 100%.
Without being too rash, I'm afraid, we're never going to win anything with Rogers. He just doesn't have "it". 13/14 was clearly an outlier as even most of those game we were still conceding a shite ton of goals, it just so happened we were scoring a shite ton more.
I'm sick of getting beaten and played off the pitch by inferior opponents. Rafa had his weaknesses and could never get us over the hump, but for the most part he would consistently beat down inferior teams, especially at home.
I'm going to have to say that was the worst performance I think I've ever seen from Liverpool, without a doubt at home. It was worse than the worst shite owl face put out there.
6-1 and 3-0, all within about 5 games of each other. That is a sign something is TERRIBLY wrong.
Dear god that shift Lovren put in was the worst I've ever seen. If he starts against ManU, I might have to take a break from football for a while.

Gah, we had a terrible game at home. Rodgers must react and not plunge blindly forward with his head in the sand. He's got 2 weekends to get it figured out. There are points to be had at Old Trafford, it's not like they've played like world beaters either.
We can't go from "we're going to win the league" post-Arsenal to "frick it fire Rodgers" in 6 days. We're better than that.

I've been watching the reds since the 90's and I thought the owl was the low point in 20 years or so. After watching the tactics Rodgers displayed on Saturday going to a back 3, I've changed my mind.
I could type a wall of text but TL/DR version: £250 million + spent and the same shite is on display. Until Rodgers is sacked this club is not going to trend upwards.

I was saying that tongue in cheek last week. We looked relatively shitty against Arsenal, who also don't look that great.
He's had 4 years to figure it out and a shite ton of money. This is a what have you done for me lately league and 13/14 is getting further and further away. He hasn't won a single trophy.
Even Kenny managed to win the Carling Cup for crying out loud....
If Klopp is available, you get him.

I never thought that.. I was not very convinced of our defense after the first three clean sheets...

It's also depressing knowing we have so many holes and we'll do zero business today, other than outs... or for the last 3 weeks, for that matter..

Well.... Better late than never guys.

We signed a teenager today. Forward from Nigeria. He'll immediately go on loan to FSV Frankfurt.

I still don't get why we're not playing the most talented forward on our squad since we have him. Treat Mario like an outcast and he'll act like it. Could have been a great opportunity to Rodgers to prove he has character development and man management skills.

me either.... i'm glad many of you have come over to my side the fence... we have a moron on the bench leading millions of dollars of wasted talent... i am firmly convinced that until he is gone we will not sniff top 4... we will continue to meddle in the middle because he simply is not capable of putting together the right lineups and gameplans... period... we had a perfect opportunity to get one of the best, and i'll be willing to bet by the time they are ready to let him go, Klopp will be gone elsewhere... we are gonna be sitting there with our thumbs in our asses, watch...
and Lovren.... you can find my old post as far as he's concerned... but Rodgers is making his bed with the jackoff... just remember, he's gotta sleep in it...
and while we are up there right now, you just know the other shoe is about to drop and we are gonna be get fricking reamed here shortly...
sorry to be "negative", but that's the way i see it, in reality, without the red and white glasses on.... YNWA

He's in Milan now bro. But I also agree. He never got a real fair shot. Our team was totally shite last year and we played the same ole long ball crap anytime he was in.
Benteke is also hurt on International Break.

One of the few times Balo and Sturridge were fit together, we trounced Spurs 3-0 at White Hart Lane. Granted he did not net anything that day, but he did have multiple shots on goal, something we cant even muster at this time. I have no ill will toward Balo and hope he succeeds, I just wish we had a coach who was competent enough to see forwards on this team work best in pairs. Even Teke is having trouble getting anything on goal. I still think Balo could have worked out at Pool given the right coach at the helm.
Posted on 9/1/15 at 5:38 pm to mkibod1
I think Balo had the talent too, but I'll give BR the benefit of the doubt on this one... At some point he's gotta be accountable for his behavior and training... by all accounts, he was amateur hour..

he was this BEFORE we paid all that money for him!! it was a shite signing then, and it's still a shite signing... whether rodgers had anything to do with it or not, it was a terrible experiment that i knew wouldn't work.... much like the andy caroll fiasco... just a little less expensive...
