Confident with the defense or offense? Defense already looks light years ahead of the past several years and seems to be a real priority for Brendan, which is so encouraging.

The attack will come around I truly believe. We saw that in the first 45 against the gunners. We hit them hard on the counter as we were always going to allow them to have the majority of the possession.

defense... I think we've had three clean sheets, two of which were against Stoke and Bournemouth... the other we sat deep and absorbed attack in the 2nd half (and they couldn't get out of their own way in the first)... not a typical Rodger's MO..

I'm not saying we haven't looked a little better, but far from a defensive stalwart...

That said, I'm really not complaining.. just cautious in my outlook..

Agreed. Its been more luck than dominance or skill that has yielded these 3 clean sheets. Im hoping to say with confidence it was all dominance/skill that yielded such results in the near future, but until then, Ill take clean sheets however we can get em haha

I understand the Stoke reference but Bournemouth look to be a real offensive threat (ok maybe not - forget that Villa loss). Regardless, not allowing a clear cut chance against either is a huge step forward from even our best defensive outings last year in the 3-5-2.

They threw the kitchen sink at us. Subbing on AOC and Walcott and throwing the entire team into attack. At a stadium where we've taken 3 points once since what, 2001? Not sure, but is been a long, long drought save the Eboue debacle and PK during Kenny's reign.

I don't know, I'm starting to believe this defense may be the real deal. I'm not saying we're Chelsea level or anything, but I think we could be in for a very surprising year on the defensive end of the pitch.

Let's funk them up.

We're due for some damn goals.

So damn ready to have this dude back. Easy to forget some of these finishes but they were freaking Torres esque. He's so damn dangerous against the last defender.

And furthermore, Sakho not included in France's squad for their qualifier which is not really a surprise.

If I'm Sakho, I'm pissed.

Looks like Lazar may be headed to Fenerbahce on loan. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

I'll just go ahead and say if. If he comes back to full strength by October, we are winning the league

If this shored up defense is legit and we start banging them in ala 13/14 then frick it. I'm in.

WERE WINNING THE LEAGUE.

It is being reported that lazar markovic is headed to fenerbahce on loan. No option to buy. Personally, I'm okay with him leaving to get football week in week out, but I wish it was in the EPL or Bundesliga

Edit: missed meursalts post. I think the thing is, it's clear that Rogers doesn't rate him at this moment in time. Better for him to get a chance to prove what he's got than to sit on the bench here, although I was hoping to see what he would offer here at LFC

I'm torn about the decision. He needs playing time, but he is clearly the odd man out here. Hope he comes back.

Europa Group B-

Bordeaux
Rubin (Russia)
Sion (Swiss)

Seems manageable - or at least it should be. Not sure how far into Russia Rubin is, but hopefully it won't be a trip that throws off our players. I'm still hopefully of almost an entirely different starting XI for the Europa games, especially early group stages.
