You keep trying to include the numbers from when they were first bought, which is outside of the point for this thread. Nobody is denying that they spent a ton in those early years. You have even said you have no problem with a large initial spend.
The point is their spending has dropped back down to match the levels of the other two power clubs in England, which goes against the narrative that some push which claims they are still spending at an "out of control" rate. They simply aren't doing that anymore.

How about this table since 2003, when transfer fees started to really go up. This four years before the take over.
Chelsea £924,009,000
Manchester City £795,920,000
Manchester United £593,450,000
Liverpool £608,180,000
200 million more than United almost 200 more than Liverpool.
Do you guys think we'll ultimately start to see team transfer amounts dwindle down with the new fad of loaning before buying on big money players? (I.E. Falcao, Negredo)

I agree.
A team full of guys making over 150K-200k a week
Do we pay crazy wages, Yea Rooney and RVP and now Falcao are on stupid per week. That will drop back down soon and level off.
Aren't Yaya and Silva both on 250k/week?

Yaya's is 200/k a week and Silva's is 140/k (Sterling wants more than David Silva, what a joke)
Aguero is the highest at 220/k

Their spending dropped back bc of a FFP fine, what do you not get here.

The net spending number will look better once the Negredo transfer is finalized when the loan ends.

Issue is the wages City pays no one is going to match that when buying a player off them.

One summer window doesn't completely throw off a 5 year table.

This last window sure does level it out, due to United going on a spending spree they never have and City not being able to spend like they want to.
United before had never spent more than 67 million in a year. Just over what City was told they couldn't netspend will being on restrictions.
If United keep spending like gangbusters the next few years you would have a point.

This is a false statement in itself. Even if another team matches your spending, that doesn't justify it as healthy spending. More than 1 team can have "out of control spending."

thats a great point
also if you look at the top 4 spending clubs 3 make a profit while city operate taking huge losses.
United make profit every year even with the debt thrown on the club by the owners.
Liverpool a few years ago where hours with in admin and are now turning a profit.
City are way outspending the revenue they bring in.

We actually just turned a profit for the first time since the admin scare. Takes awhile to rebuild the destruction G&H created.

Couldn't agree more. This was exactly my argument in the thread last week about clubs that spend a lot.

No worries. I figured that was the case but I wanted to post that just in case DS didn't know.

DS is shifting the goal post to try and make his stance against FFP look like a just cause.
This time by picking the last 5 years. When clearly City could not spend as they pleased this last year and when United went on a City type spending spree for the first time ever.

I understand why City's "out of control spending" irks some people, but I always compare it to Jerry Jones with the Cowboys.
People have been saying Jerry shouldn't be the GM for the Boys for years now, but I know if I owned the team I would 100 percent want a direct hand in who I sign because I'm the one writing them the check.
If I was some rich sheikh and had literally endless income and bought a soccer team I would do the exact same thing, spend whatever amount it took to compete for championships without regard to what I'm spending, because I have an endless amount. It would be my money and I'd be sure to get the players I want, regardless of cost.
It doesn't matter if City is in the red, to Mansour at least. He isn't in this thing to make a fortune. He has that already and is doing whatever he thinks he needs to do to be competitive.
Regardless of if it looks dumb as shite to us, it's his money and he can spend it (under FFP of course) however he pleases.

Jerry still operates with in a salary cap and the cowboys brand is a billion dollar + brand

What happens when he get tired of not seeing any real return on his investment. Those big time buys will stop.
