La Liga will begin playing at least one league match each season in the U.S., starting in early 2019, probably in Miami. Details here: LINK

Funny how European soccer fans are going ballistic about this news while us Americans have been dealing with NFL teams going to London for years.

American fans didn't like it and if your team goes to London chances are you don't like it either.

It's a weird decision, I understand wanting to expand your fan base but that is going to be very hard for teams. A seven hour time difference is big.

It'll be cool to go see a game though.

Does La Liga take a winter break? If they do, then it would probably work best if they use that last game before the break to play in Miami.

I think La Liga's TV rights are back up for bid in 2 years. May be looking to increase the league's profile in the US before then.

As a Jaguars fan, our team plays in London every year. I've grown to like it and I'll be attending this season.

Well fans have already bought season tickets and rumors say this could happen this La Liga season.

So ticket holders could just lose one whole home game. I’d be pretty triggered too.

Only small market NFL teams deal with the loss of a home game

That shouldn't be so bad. Plenty of time to recover. They could also move those two teams' next game back a day or two to make up for it.

If they aren’t sending Real, Barca, or Atleti will people even attend? The casual fan doesn’t know or care to go watch Betis v Sevilla. If one of the big teams come I’m sure they won’t send the stars, so that will hurt attendance.

This seems like a bad idea IMO, though if Real comes I’ll 100% be there.

To properly market the match, he added, one of the participating teams would have to be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Sevilla or Valencia (but preferably one of the first three). “And the league knows that,” Stillitano said.

Does the La Liga contract end in 2020? I thought it was 2019, but I might be wrong. They definitely have the worst deal of the major leagues right now, and it has been that way for a while.

2019/2020 is the last season they're on bein. i expect espn to make a strong move to get them on espn+.

i was listening to the world soccer talk podcast and they think bein is totally out of it. they were saying that would signal the end of bein in the us.

Putting La Liga on a stream only channel would be dumb

You would mostly like see the big 3 or 4 on espn2 and the rest on espn+

If Bein loses La Liga and the USMNT away games, I’m cancelling my Sling ASAP.
