Jonathan Tannenwald ?@thegoalkeeper 1m

As @SteveDavis90 pointed out, this is the most genuinely rattled Jurgen Klinsmann has looked in a long time, if ever.

Was Green and JAB given a spot in Brazil as a part of their recruitment?
JK: No.

Who knows if this is true? It'll always be a mystery, unless there is a similar article to the one written about the divide in the squad a couple of years ago, but either way, their inclusion sets a bad precedent.

Either Klinsmann is making promises to guys that don't deserve this level of faith, or he so obviously believes in the superiority of a German B team that their actual resume is meaningless.

After seeing his sons tweet I do wonder if Jurgan was saying shite abound Landon behind closed doors.

I think the exclusion was purely based on form in camp and form this season, and perhaps Landon not buying into Jurgen's philosophy. I don't think it was anything personal, but it does make you wonder.

I love these reporters' questions.

I wish this whole thing could have been avoided.

Good, glad to hear that most of the press wasn't castrated for access like Grant Wahl.

I just do not see how Landon could be passed just on this.

Jurgen brought this media shitstorm on himself, then will probably list "distractions" as part of why we bomb out.

What a stupid fricking question.

"Hey, Jurgen, do you kick puppies?"

"Yeah, as a matter of fact I do!"

Didn't I hear Grant ask one of the first questions?

Someone has to ask those questions in a public press conference like that because you don't know 100 percent for sure how the person will respond.

Jurgen could have said something as vague like "When we recruited them, we thought they could be players for us in Brazil." That's still enough.

You don't think John Brooks (who made several Bundesliga teams of the week, and even player of the week) is a better 4th CB than Clarence Goodson?

As far as Green goes, by all accounts the kid is really bringing it in camp. I would be 0% shocked if he looked better than Donovan.

Oh, he was rattled. That's why all this is coming before June 2. He wanted to get this out of the way early...whatever his reasons were.

This is still a problem we should never have. We are not France.

If thats true, and he was planning on cutting Donovan the whole time, then releasing the roster now slightly raises my opion of him. This would have been the ultamite shite stowm had he waited until June 2.

I agree the question should be asked but you can't be so forward with it. You have to be more creative when framing the question.

Let me preface this post by saying that I HOPE THAT THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN, but...

It would be pretty funny if somebody gets hurt and Donovan ends up playing, considering how much outrage and angst this has caused amongst the fans.

When the roster came out yesterday, my immediate reaction was "Why so early?" Then I saw Donovan was left off and knew immediately why it happened yesterday instead of June 2.

We can debate Klinsmann's reasoning (and never agree) and the pros and cons of the decision (and also never agree), but I think it's pretty obvious why this is happening now.

I've watched Brooks in both US games. He was the worst player on the field for both of them. Undoubtedly the worst. I haven't followed his Bundelisga season but it looks like he has some high highs and low lows. The high highs are intriguing, but and I don't care too much about the 4th central defender since he'll likely see 0 minutes on the field, but I'd take Goodsen. As the 4th defender, Brooks will come on only if there is a catastrophic injury (same with Goodsen). I'd rather take an experienced defender than a guy who has barely played with any of the defenders in the American set-up.

As for Green, the guy plays in the 4th Division. He couldn't do anything right in the Mexico game except fall down easily in the box. Super unimpressed with the only 30 meaningful minutes the guy has ever played.
