The problem is not his omission. The problem is that given the roster, no one is absolutely sure why he was omitted.

Timmy Chandler making the roster pisses me off more than anyone. The guy basically gave up on the national team after one game during qualifying, and all of the sudden he's more valuable than guys who actually went through the gauntlet.

I completely agree with this.

Exactly, the US is not flush with talent like when Brazil left off great players and just replaced them with other great players.

LD went on a fricking vision quest to see if he still wanted to play last year.

And how did he play for the US team after the vision quest?

It's as if people think he went on hiatus this winter or something.

And how has he played so far this year? The gold cup was almost a year ago. Eddie Johnson was good in the gold cup too. But he hasn't had it in 2014. Being a scorer is all about confidence and being in form. (believe me I know - as a Tottenham fan seeing Soldado struggle all season with no confidence)

I think this takes pressure off(ObviouslY) of Jurgey. He gets to start Bedoya and Zusi on the wings and doesn't have to second guess that decision. Then at the 60 minute mark if he wants to bring in Bacon at one of those wings spots, its again, a clear decision. Instead of dealing with, "Do I have to start Landon? People will expect me to start Landon." or "Do I bring in Landon or Bacon?" He knows his starters, and he knows the subs he needs.

Klinnsi did what he thinks is best for the squad, and LandyCakes understands. It was a tough decision, but you can't include a guy on the team in a tournament of this magnitude based purely on sentimental reasons.

Yeah, but those examples usually involve them being left off for other players that are playing at a world class level.

It's not like this is comparable to Italy bringing Immobile instead of Totti or Spain bringing Costa over David Villa.

This is one of the few positives. This might be the right call. We will never know, but if we make it out of the group, I personally will believe it was the right call.

If this roster is so forward thinking then why wondo over Boyd?

Exactly why take a 31 year old non factor player.

You mean the guy who keeps scoring? I don't get your argument.

It's not that. It's that Jurgen hates him and a bad 30 minutes was all it took to leave him off.

Surely you two geniuses wanted Dempsey cut in the fall and want Jozy to be sitting home instead of going to Brazil right now.

Why isn't Bradley Wright Philips starting for England btw?

Oh man, you really got us with that killer Bradley Wright Philips line. It's not like England doesn't have a much more stout pool of players or anything.

I WAS critical of Dempsey, even after the match in April. Until he went the frick off in the MLS, I was saying he needed to step his shite up. As for Jozy, his situation is nothing near any of this. His situation is well documented.

Eddie Johnson didn't even make to camp, and he was big for us last year off the bench. Donovan isn't going because he showed up fat, out of shape, and lacking confidence that he'd even make the team.

I didn't want Dempsey cut, but I didn't think he should have been an automatic starter. He's definitely stepped his game up this year.

I actually thought Jozy played really well at times this year. He seemed to get lazy for a short period, but he turned it around.

I don't even know who Bradley Wright Phillips is.

It's a joke about focusing on guys in form based on a small sample size while ignoring years of productivity.

Honestly, with as shitty as this England team is, maybe they could use him

Next up are references to Lenny calling Tiger Woods a spear chucker on the record while paying for African American prostitutes.

BTW, there's a zero percent chance Jurgen gets fired, regardless of outcome.

He just signed a four year extension, so it'll be stupid expensive to buy him out.

If we lose every game 2-0, he can shrug his shoulders and say "our guys tried, group of death got us, luckily we got some young guys some experience for the next one."

He can't lose in this situation.

Michael Bradley will be approaching 31 before the next WC, so don't be surprised if Jurgen starts pushing the ex-coach's son out sooner rather than later.

This whole argument is dumb. Jurgy knows better than EVERY single person on this board. If we make it out of the group, great. If we don't, it's probably not going to be anything Landon could have prevented. It's time to move on and get ready to support our guys.

lol

The more I think about it, the more I think it's not about Davis or Yedlin or anyone else making it over Donovan.
I think this goes back to that winning streak when the team played so well without Landon and developed an identity.
In other words, JK believes in the other players (not the fringe players, but the ones that coalesced without Donovan) and thinks they will do better without Donovan.

He also just doesn't like Donovan, so there's that.

The winning streak began when Donovan came back to the team. You do realize that, right? It began right after the Belgium loss.

Well, duh.

But can you honestly say you think Brad Davis is better than Landon Donovan?
