Dude, we've been over this. The clock DOES stop and start on the refs whistle, considering the ref is holding the only fricking clock that matters.

The same guy keeping time is also the only guy that can call penalties and bring subs into the game. The exact time is also only kept with him and nowhere else.

So why not clean this up and have a clock operator?

why was there 5 min in second half and only 2 min in first half when there was a WATER BREAK that lasted more than 2 min?

If I'm not mistaken I think the clock DID actually stop for the water break. I looked at the clock on top of the screen and it certainly seemed to have been stopped.

Maybe they're going to use the precedent of stopping the clock for the water breaks to kind of ease in a possibility of starting and stopping it for things like penalties and injuries. (nah, probably not).

I personally didn't see anything to complain about with the officiating in this game.

It didn't stop the entire time. I'm watching the extended highlights right now. It ran for about 30 seconds as they were standing on the sideline. Then it stopped for a bit.

If Portugal does not score and there are like 15 minutes of extra time .... would we still have all this whining like little bitches about extra time ?

Yes. People were bitching about Ghana getting 5 minutes last match. And rightfully so.

Obviously why they should change it. I don't see the need but I'm open to hearing why a running click should end.

You asked "Why not change it?". I don't know why you're asking me or anyone else here that has zero problem with it.

To add a bit of transparency to the game. The game clock would be kept with a clock operator who stops the clock for each whistle or on a device that stops the clock when the official blows his whistle.

Then you know the game will be exactly 90 minutes of play plus the continuation of the final "play".

Eh. Needing to know the final play seems silly in s game where it is damn near impossible to score a goal from 30 yards out. There are no hail Mary's no buzzer beaters. I think this is just a plea to Americanize a global sport.

If the difference between 4 minutes and 5 minutes is winning and tying, you don't deserve to win. It's really that simple.

You're the one new to the game here. Maybe you should just sit back and learn a thing or two instead of inserting yourself at every possible opportunity with inane opinions.

What's so laughable. Bradley plays that ball anywhere and this isn't even a topic worth bantering about. So Yea the difference between 4 and 5 is only noticeable when you frick up and give it away

i love soccer, but there needs to be more certainty and objectivity in extra time

a visible running clock would not affect the game at all, and everyone would know EXACTLY how long you had at the end of a game

what's wrong with that?

Exactly. Only losers bitch about those extra few seconds. Although we didn't actually "lose". Those that know the game, understand.

Tiger is down a shot after 72 holes...let's just play 74 now and if Keegan Bradley can't hang on then he didn't deserve to win.

The spurs are up 10 with a minute to play. Let's play two more minutes. If they can't hold off the Heat up 10 with 3 minutes left, they don't deserve to win.
