This guy is a fricking clown, and it seems like Fox is sticking with him and Alexi as their two main analysts, alongside a US international.

Does anyone else hate this guy as much as me? It's going to be so annoying watching this guy next summer.

Alexis takes himself too seriously, so you need Fernando to balance him out...

He adds absolutely nothing to the broadcast.

Fernando is not that bad, get the feeling Fox has him act like that to play off of Lalas. He also hates Mexico more than I do but won't admit it on camera as it would hurt his career. Also, any man that got paid to work with Sofia Vergara while she is looking like this has my respect.

Fox's crew is OK (not great), but I miss ESPN's crew. Watching deadpan Michael Ballack interact with Lalas and Twellman could be hilarious sometimes. Steve Macmanaman also provided some good insight.

El Presidente would be great for Hispanic viewers who are used to that kind of presentation, but he's out of place for an American soccer audience.

I don't like him. His humor is so cringeworthy and forced. I'm not sure what Lalas thinks of him, but it's funny watching Lalas' facial expressions when Fernando is doing his thing. He rarely cracks a smile and just looks pissed.

I hate everything about Fox's coverage. Keep Lalas just because you need a USA homer, but try to keep him away from any non USA games. Fire everyone else.

I'm with you on this. I don't get the appeal. If there is a big goal, I want my announcer to do 1 of these 2 things:

1. Stop talking and let the crowd reaction make the moment.

2. Say some words that will become memorable. I can hear Ian Darke calling Landon's goal against Algeria in my head still.

The Goooool thing takes the negative parts of those two options. I can't hear the crowd and every goal sounds exactly like every other goal.

Why keep him away from non-USA games? Just curious. I enjoy his commentary and thinks he makes good points, generally. Sure, he's sometimes bitter and arrogant, but it's tolerable.

Rob Stone is fine, although I like Bob Ley more. Alexi is arrogant as hell, but he generally knows what he is talking about.

I think Stu Holden is pretty good. Definitely better than Harkes and Wynalda. I am glad Gus Johnson is out. Landon is good as a halftime/pregame/postgame guy but I don't want him in the booth.

I think Hercules Gomez has been generally fine, too.

I bet Lalas is missing the hell out the espn crew right now.

Fox's coverage almost feels like parody at times.

He is, literally, a clown. That was his gig back in his Univision days. Before we had all these football channels, I watched Univision for years. He was never, EVER on any kind of sports coverage.

I honestly love any match that I find that has Steve doing color commentary. Think he's w/ BT Sport now.

I think the hate for Lalas is also overblown, especially here, but I would be lying if I didn't admit that he can be cringeworthy.

The dude that did the confederations cup in 2003 for galavision is the GOAT Mexican announcer. His call of Beasley's goal v Turkey was beautiful.

Agreed. Sir Ian Darke/Macca is my GOAT all time pairing in the booth.

If only NBCSports Premier League Team could take control of ALL usa related soccer coverage. From the Gold Cup to Qualifiers to friendlies. I appreciate them treating me like I'm an adult.

Fox is just the worst at everything. From commentary to actual footage of the match. So many times they cut to replays at the most inopportune times, for ex. right before a corner you will often see the replay of the play leading to the corner, and then they cut live and the ball is already in the box, or randomly panning the crowd when consequential play is going on for no reason. So many little things like this make it a highly unenjoyable broadcast.

While Rob Stone isn't Gus Johnson, he's still a fricking putz, and he can go suck a frick along with just about everyone else. (except for Holden, I do think he does a pretty solid job, and Warren Barton/Lalas i don't mind them)
