Yeah I'm going to need to look up the rules for this keep league, but it sounds fun.

There are lots of idea floating around about how to do leagues:

Promotion/Playoff/Prem system

Champions League

We should hammer that out pretty soon as to how those two are going to work and if they can mesh with each other. I'm volunteering to be in charge of keeping track of league positions in the off season if no one else wants to.

I'll try to knock up a set of rules we can vote on/modify tonight after I get off of work.

FWIW, setting up and maintaining this league will be a lot of work. I highly recommend doing small leagues due to the lack of parity among the goal scorers in the EPL. I would assume ten is the max.

I think keepers would be an absolutely dreadful idea in soccer. There are too many transfers. It is just too big of a risk and a pain.

Also, you could have multiple leagues depending on the turnout. As cool as promotion/relegation is, you would have to stick a ton of people in lower divisions for simply no reason. I am not sure how you would make that executive decision.

As far as free agents and waivers go, I would suggest using FAAB (free agent acquistion budget) over traditional waivers in a league without a site. This will require you to receive emails from all the members every week if they want to make a bid. This is a superior method to traditional waivers in soccer due to the fact that midseason transfers can change the league. Also, waivers should happen once a week.

When it comes to money (if this is not a free league(s)), Paypal is your friend.

There are a lot of other arenas I could go into, but this will be very difficult without a host site. It will require hours and hours of work to set up and run this. You need to have a very specific league constitution to basically handle any issues that arise.

In order to get this to work, there will not be time to vote on everything and take your time. You will have to make some executive decisions because this is a daunting task to make a good league without a site over the Internet.

Good luck with this and I could be interested if you want. Let me know if you need any advice.

My thought is that we should have leagues of ten. First season everyone is equal. Then we'll start a promotion/relegation system starting next year based on this year's finishes. Who knows, we could have a FA Cup-type tournament in-season between all the leagues.

Keeper league would be different and very entertaining. But only a max of three keepers per season to avoid stockpiling.

I think if we got a dedicated commish per league, we could do it without an external site. If we set up a scoring system that's not super complex, I think we could pull it off.

A FA budget would have to be used. Maybe even use it as part of a transfer budget between teams?

Wow I have no idea what you guys are talking about.

You may have to translate at some point down the road for the dumber posters like me.

Yeah, this is all awesome. Not sure how the FA Cup would work though. I do not think it is practical.

With ten team leagues, you could play each team four times and have a league champ. There would be two weeks left, but that is probably good with teams sometimes playing twice a week. I would be against playoffs.

I am very against keepers. Players are too unstable.

It would be necessary.

The scoring is very, very easy. The hard part is setting up the league and determining rules in the first place. Also, collecting money through Paypal could suck depending on the people, but I think it would be ok on the soccer board.

We could even use the site from last year to roster our players. In a ten team draft league, I would be surprised if anyone's team cost 100 Euro on that site. This could actually be a really good idea.

We would need a separate thread for each league. I would call them EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga, etc.

Do separate budgets for sure. A transfer budget is fricking badass.

This is what I was worried about. It really is a lot of work. Setting up a league like it was a fantasy football league on Yahoo or ESPN is very tough without a host site or format to go by.

Not too many leagues use FAAB, but I think it is necessary in soccer. I actually think it will probably be better than normal rolling waivers, but I have never tried one yet.

Wouldn't make sense unless we're doing leagues for all of those real leagues. This is EPL fantasy, right?

Also, if one certain group of people want a money league, they can determine that themselves with their commish. I'll be happy to be a commish of a free league. I will not be paying.

If we have any pay leagues, then make EPL the most expensive, then N'Power, and maybe make the third and fourth divisions free or whatever. You would have to see if people prefer free or not.

Vicks, what WarSlam meant is that it does not make sense to have a fantasy league called "La Liga" if the players in said fantasy team are EPL Players.

The only way I could think of it working is to double the week's league score for a custom FA tourney. It would be a change of pace because it would be teams from another league, but I don't know if people would think its lame because it was the same exact point total as the week's league game.

I'm pretty annoyed right now. I chose my team on the fantasy league site and my team name was too long. I was really hoping to compete this year under the name Something Racist about Mexicans FC.

Alright I just kind of skimmed through these five pages but I'm definitely in.

Once all the rules and everything gets established, I agree that a new thread should be started and stickied to make it easy to view/access.
