Bretos. He's been doing that since the Fox Sports World days. It was shitty then too, but it's almost fun kitschy now.

Neither has control of the feed. The tournament organizers hire a production company to produce a global feed. It just turns out that the global feed for the Euros is infinitely better than that of Copa.

Gotcha. Nothing was worse than that feed for the WCQ at Guatemala. The camera looked like it was in Honduras with how far away and shitty it was.

The coverage just seems effortless.

This is best way I have seen to describe espy's coverage of big tournaments whether it is soccer, tennis, or golf. Fox's COPA coverage was very disappointing especially after how good they did with the Women's Wold Cup.

Fox seems like they are trying to appeal to the NASCAR fan and are still fighting the battle to make soccer be mainstream in the US. The US Argentina pre-game was nothing more than a US pep rally, FOX just feels gimmicky. They need to stop trying to force Soccer (and golf) into the production mold as the NFL.

ESPN's euro coverage has been awesome. Plus they have Ian darke.

Their Brazil coverage two years ago was off the charts.

Fox was pretty meh with the copa IMO.

I loved when he would do that. He's toned it down for sure.

Also the commentator for Fox, John Strong, is very good.

I believe he was/is in love with Francisco Totti. I think I remember he called him an "Italian god" once.

I think Fox's in-game commentators for Copa were pretty good. I thought Stu and Landon were pretty good with potential to be even better.
The studio show, however, was atrocious. They are just trying to put on a show instead of providing actual analysis of the games. Aly Wagner was actually pretty good, but Fiore and Lalas were garbage. I wish ESPN would still set up a studio in Russia for the World Cup. I'd absolutely have no problem watching their coverage and change to Fox immediately at kickoff.

I wish they didn't put Tommy Smyth out to pasture on ESPN.

I am the only one that loves Derek Rae and Jon Champion??

Also, who is the Irish guy (I assume he is Irish) that did a couple of the early games...really thick accent and when a goal was scored he'd go bonkers and couldn't understand a thing that came out of his mouth? I had never heard him before the EURO's

You're probably talking about Tommy Smyth. He did some of the Ireland games at the Euros

He hasn't done a lot of ESPN games lately, but he's an old-timer who's been around a long time.

I like John Strong, as well. Good American play-by-play guy.

No it's not him...I know the "put the onion in the basket" guy

The guy I'm talking about working this years EURO's...he might not be Irish...could be Scottish. I want to say he did one or two of the Ireland games...

ETA: is must be Mark Donaldson

So guys love ESPN coverage of soccer matches but hate ESPNFC..

I don't mind FOX coverage one bit personally. I would agree it is better on ESPN however.

Just put matches on TV
