I was a local police officer until I moved to the Federal side of the house and dealt with crowd control constantly in NOLA. The one thing that can't happen is your command center freeze, that's a recipe for disaster. When you are on the ground you cannot see the big picture and what might appear to be the right move to you for your area could be devastating in another. I found it interesting that the one officer said that when he got to that end of the pitch he could see the two pens were severely overcrowded and that it was obvious. If he could see it from field level how the hell did the command center not see it? In law enforcement you understand that you will have to make instant life and death decisions and if you f*ck it up and somebody gets hurt then you are accountable. The officers in charge at Hillsborough did not try to kill 96 people, but the cover up was disgusting and the people and officer's responsible need to go to jail.

It was a good 30 for 30, and quite heart-wrenching at times.

The Bradford City incident in 1985 is more nightmarish for me since death by fire is my ultimate fear.....56 dead, over 200 injured.

Bradford City incident

Horrible, horrible sights. I've made the mistake of watching the video on YouTube (assuming it's still there). Just a reminder that stadium regulations in the '70s and '80s were a massive problem that plagued the game.

Here is a video of the Bradford City fire and a bit of a warning you do see burning people in this. It's really amazing how fast that fire spread. Less than 7 minuets and the entire thing is gone.

Well I didn't expect to see that until I watched the video.

Unbelievable. Now those policeman are true heroes. Dragging victims away while burning pieces of the roof are falling down all around them.

You know I'm not the biggest fan of using public funds to build stadiums but I believe it's a large reason why we haven't had issues like this in American stadiums.

Yeah my dad has been a volunteer firefighter nearly all my life and pretty much anytime when it's been dry or it's windy they usually get 2 or 3 calls on a weekend day because some idiot is trying to burn something.
