I just did the math. If we had been playing with the rate of point return since Guus took over for the whole season, we'd be right there with Tottenham and Arsenal. We've been so average since he took over, too. The Premier League really is terrible, isn't it?

Yes it's almost impossible to believe we are like one or two wins instead of draws away from being right in the top 4 race because we have been God awful.

Conte spotted in London.
Di Marzio is reporting he'll sign his deal tomorrow. Need to announce it ASAP because he'll decide if Terry stays. Also need to be able to identify transfer targets because Conte could be at the Euros for at least of a couple weeks. We can't afford to get a late start on transfer dealings this summer.

Our young guys get me excited. RLC could be elite. He has all the tools and the physical prowess to do big things for us. Kenedy plays with an energy that I admire. Cortois is one of the best in the world. Miazga will only get better.
If Terry leaves, then we really need a RB or LB. Dave can play either side but Ivon needs to move to CB with Zouma. We then have Cahill and Miazga as backups or midweek guys.
We need to keep either Mikel or Matic. I lean towards both unless we get a great offer from someone. Mikel is good depth and Matic needs to get his head out of his arse this summer.
Pato playing well is a surprise but I would be shocked if Costa stays more than another year or two. Give me Griezman up front and I am a happy man. I want someone that will make runs and stress the back line. He has clearly shown the ability to score at the highest level.
I like our wings and I don't really expect movement there unless someone pays a stupid amount for Hazard. If will get a 100 million offer for him then let's make it happen...I have been his biggest fan and this year has been unforgivable.
Do we need a CM? I feel like RLC is exactly what we need and we need to give him a shot. The question is whether we put all our eggs in that basket. Cesc needs to play from a deeper position looking for those long balls off runs and RLC can play box to box.
That was a ramble...I'm excited for next year already.

I think we either need to on from Matic or he must play better. I would love to keep Mikel as the back up, game ending cdm he has been.
I don't think a deep pairing of RLC and Fabregas would work at all as they are both players who want to move forward. They both could use the player who will cover for them. That is the player we need, whether its a stronger and more disciplined Matic or a new guy.
So much of this depends on whether Conte wants us to shift to a 3-5-2, in which we will need another CB, or if he is looking to remain with a back 4.

Give me Griezmann
I wish, but there is about a 1% chance he comes to Chelsea.
I could see reinforcements coming at striker with Falcao, Remy and Pato probably on the way out. I just anticipate it's going to be someone like Zaza instead of a big name.

Conte is probably going to at least try a 3-5-2. If that's the case we really need another CB. I think Conte is going to keep Terry, though. He's shown he values experience, and it'll be a great way for him to get the fans on his side from the beginning. If a 3-5-2 doesn't work, I'd assume he'd play 4-3-3. If that's the case, I think we're fine.

Courtois is one of the best in the world.
He's been talking about a move elsewhere. Pretty sure he wants to leave. I just doubt anyone is going to offer a world record fee for him, which is what it'll take to get Chelsea to sell. We know he's capable of a lot more than he's shown this season. He's been poor, and we need him at his best.

Matic has the tools to be elite in Conte's system. His problem is that he seems to have a fragile ego, and his performances seem to rest almost entirely on his confidence. He started the season in subpar form. I don't think he was bad as everyone made him out to be, though. Hazard wasn't defending on the left. Ivanovic is as useful as a traffic cone at RB. Matic was constantly being pulled way out of position to bail other people out and it made him look even worse. Jose killed his morale when he brought him on at halftime then subbed him off. It was one of the most disgraceful managerial moves all season. If Conte could build him back up, people will be pleasantly surprised.
Mikel said he wants first team football, or he wants to leave. I don't know that he'll get first team football. I'd love him to stay on as a squad player. He's the best in the world at shutting a game down as a sub or breaking up play in the midfield against a top European side. However, he's been such a loyal servant, and he could've bailed on several occasions when he wasn't given a chance to play. If he wants regular first team football at his age, I think we have to honor that.

Do we need a CM?
Yes. I'm pretty sure Oscar and Mikel will both be gone. That leaves us with Fabregas, Matic and RLC. I'm all about giving RLC lots of minutes, but I don't know if I want to put all the pressure in the world on him. Also, this would assume Matic comes good. I'd like two midfielders in the summer so we have some options and we can keep everybody fresh. We've been linked with Roma's midfielders (Nainggolan and Pjanic). Pjanic really would excite me. I haven't seen enough of Nainggolan to form an opinion, but I think he's more of the all-action, box-to-box type.

The mistake was bringing him on the first place. Matic has been awful.

Not sure if serious? Just because he's the most one dimensional player in the world doesn't make him anywhere near the best at that one dimension. He's slow and clumsy and doesn't work all that hard.
We need a compete overhaul and now is the time for it. I'd be perfectly fine with getting all the malcontents like Courtois, Hazard, Cesc, even Costa out if the price is right.

We sell four of our most talented players when we have no Champions League to attract players near that quality?

@FabrizioRomano: Contract signed until 2019 for Conte at #Chelsea. He's going to meet Chelsea board to speake also about transfers (Nainggolan & co) #CFC

They are largely the reason we don't have CL to sell.

Pjanic would be exciting. I am expecting major changes at the club in the next few months. Get ready boys

I was messing around on Squawka. Figured I'd compare some guys on loan (Cuadrado, Christensen) and transfer targets to our first team players to see how they stack up.

Well...that's depressing and exciting in the same breath? Only up from here.

We are trying to sign back Lukaku....

Costa looking to move to China this summer. Perfectly fine with this because it means we would get paid above market for this to happen.

I want Costa to stay. I think he'd form an elite partnership with somebody. I also am not convinced we could find an upgrade. Cavani is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E. Higuain might be nice, but I'm not sure we could convince him to come. If Costa is set on a move, I'd love to sell him to a Chinese club. The alternative seems to be selling him back to Atleti, but there's no way they're going to pay a lot for him.

We shouldn't sell unless it is a Chinese club for the reasons you listed. However, we may get £100 million if they want him

No way we get 100 million pounds for him. I think 70 million pounds to some Chinese club would be extremely generous for him at this point.
I don't know if Costa would even consider a move to China, and the only report I've seen is coming from the telegraph. I don't have too much faith in one report. Where have you seen these rumors?

If price were not a factor would you rather have Costa or Lukaku?

i thought lukaku was going to PSG
or
he was going to real and benzema was going to PSG (which i think is more likely)
