It seems like having Cole slide into LB and Azpi back to his natural position is a no brainer. Unless, of course, Cole has been sitting around doing nothing but eating Doritos during his nearly 6 month absence. I still don't understand how he fell so out of favor so fast.
Less about Cole falling out of favor and rather Azpi just kicking arse. Our entire back four has been terrific this year. All of them have performed extremely well.
I love Luiz in this "attacking DM" role. Dude is a lose cannon, but he makes it a pain in the arse for opponents to have any fluidity in the middle of the pitch. He is critical to keeping our back four strong.
I'm hoping Hazard is fit for the next match - he can sit out the Prem and focus on CL for all I care. Need his magic to be able to make a final push. Love how much Hazard and Willian stretch defenses wide. Oscar needs to play well and we are solid across the front.
Eto'o has been solid lately and Torres had a couple plays in his 10 minutes against PSG that made my roommate and I go "was that the Torres of old?".
Of course, AS is about as good of an early sub as you can bring in. Guy plays with terrific energy and is so efficient on all of his opportunities.

No. I don't see Torres getting back anywhere near his old self. Eto'o is doing pretty well though.

@Atleti 1st leg. Should be interesting. Hoping for a win or 2-2 tie kind of situation.

Soooooo we "control our own destiny" now.

Yessir. Just texted my City buddy. He's sweating it out now. He's been ragging on me for the last couple weeks.

Bump. Let's get some silverware

So all we have to do is beat Sunderland at home, lose 3-1 Tuesday, and then break everyone's hearts Sunday.
Shouldn't be too difficult.

Cole not even on the bench today? I guess we are just going to throw him to the wolves on Tuesday? Seems like a perfect chance to give Azpi a rest with the week we have coming up and get Cole some match time in.
Also, what's the deal with Cech? Did I miss him getting hurt? He gonna be back for Tuesday and next weekend?
ETA: Nevermind, just found that he's sick should be good for Tuesday.

That game gave my eyes the AIDS

This team in general is definitely beyond frustrating to watch. The lack of attacking quality on our team is astonishing. Outside of Hazard we don't have a single player that inspires any hope.
It has to be said Oscar has been terrible since sometime around November. We sold Mata and the rest (Schurrle, Salah, Willian) are nothing more than fast athletes but highly average in every other way.
We don't even have a player who can deliver a decent corner.
As much as we need a striker we need a central playmaking option equally as much, Oscar isn't ready.

Was Lamps hurt? i only saw the second half. I think Ramires is a dirt bag that has one redeeming quality IMO...he runs around (usually trying to recover from one of his numerous shite passes which usually ends up with him fouling). I still say he doesn't track back worth a shite. Call me crazy, but if he gets suspended, I see us beating Liverpool.

At this point I don't even want to waste our time with Liverpool. Unless they lose to Norwich tomorrow we have virtually zero chance at the title now.
Might as well throw it all into getting by Atletico.

Has Mourinho ever said, or even hinted at, why he could do without Mata?

I think it was pretty much down to his lack of ability or willingness to track back and defend, which I can understand in some situations.
But games like today, at home vs. Sunderland or any of the numerous times we play undermanned teams who are going to try and bunker in and make us break them down, we are dying for a player like that.

Sad thing is, I woke up this morning expecting to be disappointed today. Seems like we always have these kind of games where it's obvious we should win and instead we shite the bed.

I'm usually like that but I thought at home we would find a way.
It's maddening to be able to handle City, Pool, Arsenal, Spurs, United.... rather easily and lose and drop points down the stretch to West Ham, Villa, Palace, Sunderland, West Brom....
I'm pretty resigned to the fact Costa is going to be the striker we bring in but what #10s are out there? Surely Jose has to see Oscar isn't ready to be the man right now though his ego may be too strong for him to admit it.

Maybe we could try to buy that Mata guy from United, he's not too bad of an attacking midfielder. Not sure if he'd fit Jose's system though...

Good luck at the Calderon. Atletico is so good defensively. 0-0 draw is your dream.
