Sooooooo.....,

Kante looked as advertised. I dont know what the formation was in the second half, but whatever it was i liked it.

Aina was getting worked by niang, but i still think hes good enough to challenge ivans mins at RB.

Another good showing for chalobah.

Did you see Niang take on Ivanovic when he came on? THAT was getting worked

Also, jt and cahill would have been embarrassed by a better team with some of those balls over the top, but iirc most of those chances came with our 2-man midfield and dried up when kante came on.

We desperately need Zouma back.

Kenedy, Miazga and Remy out of the 23-man squad for Bremen. Looks like those first two are going out on loan and Remy is being frozen out. Don't know why we wouldn't just offload Pedro and keep Kenedy around. Guy honestly was playing at a higher level than most of our wingers last year.

Kids are doing great, BTW. Kasey Palmer made his professional debut and scored the winner with his first touch. Tammy Abraham lit it up, too. Also, Alex Kiwomya scored a stunning solo match winner.

Kiwomya

Palmer

Abraham

Bertrand Traore going out on loan to Ajax. Wish we had moved Remy instead.

Emenalo needs to leave with a swiftness after last summer and this summer. The moves are mind boggling. Last summer was an absolute disaster. This summer we got Kante which is awesome. But we STILL don't have a CB and it's blatantly obvious we need one. Kenedy and Baba leave, so we now have nobody who can play LB except Dave. I guess we can play Aina out of position there, but how does that happen?

Then, we loan out Traore. The guy is MILES better than Remy. It's not close. I'm so sick of watching Remy stand offside. He lives offside. We're going to have to watch Dave at LB and Ivanovic at RB all season again. We're not going to finish higher than 7th. Hell, we'll be lucky to finish top half. This season is going to be an absolute farce.

I think it's pretty obvious Roman doesn't really care anymore or maybe the oil prices going down has put a big dent in his deep pockets. It's the only possible explanation or our lack of action along the back line.

Either way we are not a big time buying club anymore. Get ready for some mediocrity.

With that said yes some of the non money related moves are still terrible. Can't believe we are sending Traore out.

Not crazy about it either, but with no euro nites its not like our 3rd striker would see much gametime anyway, especially if conte roles with only one up top. Let remy rot while traore gets some pt somewhere. Still not convinced remy stays anyway.

During the inevitable stretch of games Costa will miss, it wouldnt surprise me if Hazard would be played centrally if michy cant play. Or RLC.

But not getting some defensive reinforncemnts is unacceptable.

I don't think this is the case. We've spent 70ish mil and haven't really offloaded anyone but Papy and Salah (which were small fees). I assume there's going to be one more deal done, too, with how often we get linked.

This is what frustrates me/concerns me the most.

Even if we didn't spend big, we could've greatly improved the team. Could've easily sold Oscar and Pedro for 50 million in this market to sign a legit playmaker or dynamic winger (assuming Hazard plays centrally) like Mkhitaryan. We could've done that and then put the extra 20ish million with about 25-30 million to buy a stud CB. Or we could've recalled Christensen.

We could've also not loaned out Ake who is the perfect fit at LB. We could've kept Kenedy who was more threatening from the wing in terms of consistency than Pedro.

Yeah everyone knows we need help across the back line and nothing was done to help that. Very frustrating.

Honestly, our back line is going to be worse than last year. No amount of organization can help us. Iva is almost certainly going to be at RB. Cahill isn't first team quality. Terry isn't going to be better. Dave is still playing out of position. And we've got two guys out on loan now who could help us out.

70m today is almost nothing for a team needing a significant makeover.

Tammy Abraham had a brace today, including a 90th minute winner.

Oscar it is.

Ivan Cahill and Terry in the back with Matic in front, that should go well. Matic lolololol

I love that you added LOLOLOL after Matic, but you aren't going to say anything about Ivanovic starting at RB. That's worked out really well.

I think Chelsea come away from the first weekend looking by far the best team in the league. Haven't seen such a one sided performance in a long time. Early days of course, but encouraging for you guys for sure.
