If it's me Matic is off (even though he's been ok the first two games) and Oscar plays a little deeper with Cesc in the role Oscar has been playing.

I'm thinking long and hard about giving Michy the nod over Costa too.

Without Cesc we just don't have anyone out there who can pick a pass and Costa is 100% worthless trying to dribble and create on his own.

Yeah. Why start the guy who has scored winners after the 85th minute in consecutive games?

im over Matic. With Kante sitting back, hes kindof out of his element. i mean, i get hes got to play, but dammit i wish the radja deal had worked out.

and at this rate, Costa will be suspended pretty soon so we'll all get to see Michy get a run shortly.

you really cant say hes played well the last 2 games, and prob should have been sent off in both.

hes a risk on the pitch and his limited skillset barely makes up for it. that said, i think youve got to play him, but i certainly understand wanting to bench him. he really can look like hot garbage at times.

I know people are mad at Matic from last year. But he's actually been pretty good the first two games. He's overshadowed by Kante, but he's provided a lot of cover. If you take him out and start Cesc, you'll see Kante struggle to shut down everything. I agree the ideal scenario would be to have a box-to-box guy like a Pogba or Nainggolan, but it just didn't happen. I think we're better off with Kante/Matic than Cesc/Kante unless we're going to dominate possession and we need someone to help break a team down.

i certainly wouldnt mind seeing a more offensive approach at home against burnley, hopefully go up a goal or two and then bring Matic on. but yeah, im less sure about it against more skilled teams.

Because if it wasn't an instant turnover every time he touched the ball the first 85 minutes we might not need those late goals. Also, because we don't have to hold our breath that he's going to get sent off any minute every game.

I don't know if it would work but I would love to see RLC given a shot to play this role.

I'm a huge fan of RLC and his pairing with Kante could be magic.

Cesc is such a defensive liability that he isn't going to play unless we are pressing for a goal. I won't be surprised to see him request a transfer after this year TBH.

If Kante and Matic are on the field we shouldn't need him to do much defensive work. Cesc needs to play or our offense is going to struggle and score all season.

You can't alienate a midfielder of Cesc's quality. When he's inform, he's one of the world's best. One of the guys on the Chelsea Fan's Channel described it as "Cesc has a key to every team's back line when he's at his best." Plus, I expect Oscar to stop playing decent in a few games.

What's wrong with Willian? How long is he out?

I guess he just has to wait until Oscar has his eventual October on meltdown.

Keeping Cesc and signing a legit defender this week would be a pretty big win. I think we need two signings, but I'd settle for one. If nobody comes in this week, it'll be a disaster.

I think we need another CB and LB.

Sounds like Marco Alonso is happening.

Wondering if we can pull Koulibaly from Napoli too, since he hasn't signed his new contract yet.

Those two signings plus keeping Cesc sound like best case right now.

Fingers crossed.

Id be happy with Alonso and stefan de vrij.

Things for KK and the milan kid dont appear likely, and de Vrij looked to be turning into a solid CB before he got hurt. Might be worth the gamble.
