Youch. Tough draw for Celtic. Should make a pretty penny off it, though.

Was group C picked last each time after the pot A? Something seems fishy!!

Rigged... Celtic gets another home win over Barca and Pep gets to play Barcelona with his new team. Monchengladbach was just filling a slot.

well, this stops Sevilla run in Europa Cup.

No chance they don't get out of that group, along with Juve.

Really dislike them, but it sure seems like this happens to them every year.

A bit off topic but I was just looking at the country rankings. Since Italy have been shite lately, looks like England being overtaken is unlikely. Rankings at the end of this season determine places in the 2018-19 competitions.

But, assuming the access list doesn't change, there's an interesting race for places 5/6/7. This is key because right now, 6th place gets 3 UCL teams (2 group stage, 1 Q3) while 7th place only gets 2 (1 group stage, 1 Q3).

As of last season, Portugal was 5th, France 6th and Russia 7th. As of today (incomplete season), Portugal are 7th. Key is that our comrade Mr. P could get a 3rd UCL team.

Also, the Netherlands dipping closer to the line where they would only get one team in the UCL. Again, less likely to happen this season but they PSV, Ajax and AZ in a bad way to do something in Europe.

Mind spew over. Carry on.

We just gonna forget about City and Pool raising England's coefficient last season with their deep runs in Europe?

Helped, but Italy being shite outside Juve also helped.

And yes I have a selective memory.

Russia should most definitely have #5 for 2018/19, as both France and Portugal lose the better coefficients from 2012/13.

As for 17/18, Rostov in the CL isn't helpful, but Zenit covers with what should be a cakewalk in the EL. Porto, Benfica, and Sporting will need to get to the Round of 16 if Portugal wants to stay where they are in the rankings (Porto should, Benfica probably, Sporting not likely).

As for the stage draw, I wish they'd order groups by Club Coefficients.
