I asked @LAGalaxy coach Bruce Arena if he would be interested in coaching the #USMNT again. He said, “Yes, under the right circumstances."

I wonder if Gulati is just laughing at this while smoking a cigar with Klinsman. ..

Would rather take a risk on Vermes.

Need new blood and new ideas.

Don't like the idea of going back, except in the case of pure desperation.

Make Carlo Ancelotti an offer he can't refuse.

Bruce

His interview where he talks about Landon retiring and then breaks down is probably my favorite thing ever posted on this board.

Bruce already had his shot. I'd take a crack at Vermes. Continually pumps out results with a small market team.

I don't see him leaving where he's at, but what about Kreis?

Jesus, no. Herrera and Bruce can both be filed under bad options. If we're going to change it up, we need to get someone with new ideas and little history with the program. Bruce had the benefit of two USMNT GOATs at their hungriest, freshest points in Donovan and Beasley. Donovan's 2002 World Cup is the stuff of legends. 2006 was a pretty shitty experience. If we're going back to past managers, I'd rather we call Bob back than Bruce.

We played well under Bruce, though I doubt hes the best option at this point.

I just think Bruce and the current people in US Soccer (read Sunil Gulati) have too many bridges burnt. Maybe we shouldn't have ever fired him, but we made that choice.

Let's not forget that analysts, including the always supportive Alexi Lalas, were ripping him to shreds for his 2006 World Cup tactics, and he and Don Garber got in a war of words publicly after Bruce said players needed European experience to take US Soccer to the next level. One of the only people defending him was, surprise, Sunil Gulati. Sound familiar? It's revisionist history to act like people were outraged. That said, the players DID love him, which is a tribute to him as a person.

Maybe he'd be a good hire, but I just don't see that working long term. I just think we need a fresh start to really try to take it to the next level.

I'm cool with Bruce but I would rather see them bring in Bielsa the GOAT. It would also prevent Mexico from getting him and screwing over the Mexicans is always a good thing.

Really? Arena called Jurgen out for saying the same thing, didn't he?
