I thought he was doing decently at Stuttgart, who should be back up next season.

I remember he scored a goal in his first or second appearance for them, but I haven't kept up since. I'm just assuming the post I replied to meant he still isn't getting time with with Stuttgart.

ETA: According to transfermarkt, Green has played in 6 of 7 Stuttgart matches since he joined. However, he has yet to play more than 61 minutes.

Honestly didn't even realize he left Bayern. Just hadn't heard anything about him so assumed he was still wasting away on their B team

I don't know much on tactics and things with formations, but I like that second formation a lot. I think we need Woods and Altidore on the pitch together.

Whether we go two or one up top really depends on the quality of opponent and how much we need to pack the midfield.

The good news with Pulisic for us is that he is so versatile, he can play left, right, center, has shown that he can excel in an attack-minded spot or as a two-way player. No matter where we put him, he will be our best player on the pitch, which gives us options.

For now, I think he is best suited on one of the wings with Feilhaber, Kljestan or Nagbe at the 10, because if there's one thing that Pulisic has "struggled" with – and I use that term loosely – it's that his passing in the final third has been off the mark at times.

I'm thinking if i was in charge, i would have that Pusilic playing LB and Bradley at AMC.

Barring injury or Fernando Torres - level lack of confidence issues, the kid looks like our best player ever. I'm not talking about calling someone the greatest because records - all time goals or assists and what not. In terms of level of play for a European club, the US has never produced a player playing close to the level that he is right now.

The confidence he has in himself is the first thing I see. But he has it all to be a great modern player. He's also in the perfect spot with the perfect players around him. Dembele and Aubamayeng and all the others that can't get on the field right now because of him

I'm rambling. I'm really pumped on this dude

My ideal lineup. Was trying to find a diagram of a 4-1-3-2 because that would be the base setup. Bradley as the #6. Fabian - Sacha - Pulisic behind the strikers.

Not too happy about that. I just hope he doesn't start.

I also try to watch almost every BvB match and agree with your CP assessment wholeheartedly. He is better right now at RM/RW than playing centrally. He on the wing, he loves to use his pace to beat defenders and he prefers to put a cross through the box than cut in looking for a shot. He also loves to play a give and go along the sidelines where he challenges the LB with pace. He starts a lot of counters this way. He rarely is looking to be the scorer and generally has his head up looking to the middle of the field. CP does a lot defensively and busts his arse to win the ball back. I think this is something that has kept him on the field at such a young age. Fitness continues to get better and he will get stronger over time.

Hazard is a good comparison at this stage but I think Eden is more of a pure dribbler than CP. Christian has much more of an engine playing box to box when he is required.

Yeah it seems there's a consensus he needs to be on the wing at this point and I think that's about right. With the way he moves around switching wings and popping up in different spots I don't think putting him out on the wing will lessen his impact. I just hope Bruce doesn't get the urge to put him in the 10 spot thinking it will increase his impact on a game. I actually think B Wood could play well in an advanced 10 role right behind Jozy. With his energy and playing style, I think he could really be a effective there.

So there is this:

Late night stat randomness. Christian Pulisic appears to be a fearless dribbling machine. Since the break he leads the BuLi in take ons.

Obviously I watch him a lot, but I didn't realize quite how extremely good he is at going by people an how often he does it.

The hype is real, and it isn't just coming from giddy Americans

quote:

In an exchange on ARD, Scholl was giving his verdict on the 18-year-old – who now has three goals in his last four games – with the Dortmund boss alongside him as part of his post-match media activities. And Scholl risked Tuchel's wrath by tipping the Unites States international for a move to his former club Bayern. "He is my absolute favourite player," Scholl, a winner of eight Bundesliga titles during his time at Bayern, said.

quote:

"I imagine that Bayern will probably be approaching him at some point because he simply has the special quality.

"He can create a majority on the wings and that is something only few players can do. He creates situations which usually cannot usually happen."

Tuchel immediately responded by saying: "This young lad is an academy player, he still could play at youth level. So I would tell Mehmet to slow down a bit." Pulisic made his first-team debut in January 2016 and was rewarded for his early progress by signing a new contract until 2020 earlier this year.

Following their cup victory, Dortmund will play Bayern Munich in the last four next month.

Wish I could find more from the German media

Yea that part from Tuchel made me chuckle but not surprising that a manager is quick to temper expectations on an 18 year old.

I will say that I'll be salty as frick if he goes to Bayern. I've followed BvB as my #2 team since before Pulisic. If he goes anywhere other than LFC I'll be mad, but would be perfectly fine if he played his whole career at Dortmund. Unlikely but possible. If he keeps progressing at this rate then English and Spanish teams are going to throw a shite pile of money at BvB for his services.

That's bold playing without a goalkeeper. Will love to see how that strategy works out for you.

I have to think at the rate he is progressing, a Premier League club will pay a lot for him soon. Liverpool makes a lot of since but almost too much sense maybe. American owners, former coach, all that.

ETA How long were Pulisic and Klopp at Dortmund at the same time? All of his real success has come under Tuchel.

I could see him being the ideal replacement for Coutinho on the left when he is eventually sold to Barça or PSG
