It's time for Jurgen to go

Kevin McCauley's piece on SBNation is pretty good.
Jurgen Klinsmann should be fired, but not because the USMNT lost 4-0 to Costa Rica

Cross to left cheek.
Discombobulate.
Body shot.
Weaken right jaw, now fracture.
Break cracked ribs.
Traumatise solar plexus.
Dislocate jaw entirely.
Heel kick to diaphragm.
That was one devastating article.
quote:
Klinsmann claimed that the United States’ personnel was a good fit for a 3-5-2 formation, and that’s why he decided to employ it in the Mexico match. But the personnel that he had to work with on Friday is the same as the personnel he had last month, when he had two friendlies to use to prepare for Friday’s big game. It didn’t occur to him to test his theories out in those low-stakes situations, so his team was unprepared to play in that shape against Mexico.
Discombobulate.
quote:
That Jones gave the ball away constantly over the course of two matches while also failing to win the ball with physical challenges like he normally does can hardly be blamed on him. Players need more than two run-outs to fully recover from a three-month injury layoff. It was clear from his two average games for the Colorado Rapids that he was still finding his feet, and was not yet the Jermaine Jones who’s dominated MLS and big USMNT games in recent years. Starting him twice was a bad selection more egregious than any tactical error.
Body shot.
quote:
Despite never seeing the USMNT line up in a 3-5-2, El Tri boss Juan Carlos Osorio was prepared for the possibility. Less than a minute into the game, "Tecatito" Jesus Corona and Osorio relayed what they saw on the pitch to each other, and Mexico quickly adjusted their strategy to counter it. Klinsmann watched his team flail around in a state of utter confusion for 30 minutes before he decided to make an adjustment. It was a fit of poor intuition, followed by a lack of composure and decisiveness from Klinsmann.
Weaken right jaw, now fracture.
quote:
Players quitting on Klinsmann isn’t a new thing, even if they’ve never done it mid-game before. You might recall the 2013 Sporting News story by Brian Straus about players questioning Klinsmann’s coaching methods. Some of the players that Klinsmann had no chance to win over were dropped from the team, while senior leaders rallied the troops to convince them that they needed to give everything they had for the team even if they disagreed with the manager. The result was a solid Hex performance. But Klinsmann does not appear to have learned, and those same senior leaders can’t be reasonably counted on to motivate their teammates to fight for a coach they don’t believe in for a fifth consecutive year.
Break cracked ribs.
quote:
Klinsmann has no management skills. He lets his emotions overshadow logic to the detriment of his subordinates.
Traumatise solar plexus.
quote:
Jurgen Klinsmann did not become a bad coach last week. He was an inept tactical manager with bad ideas at Bayern Munich eight years ago, and he’s been that repeatedly for the United States men’s national team.
Dislocate jaw entirely.
quote:
The thing that could get Klinsmann canned is that there are signs that he can no longer be trusted to be reasonable. His actions over the past week suggest that he is not considering the potential benefits and consequences of his decisions, and is now acting irrationally.
Heel kick to diaphragm.
That was one devastating article.

Yeah, but all pretty obvious trends to people who have paid attention to him, with a critical eye, since the Donovan decision.

Klinsmann makes me not enjoy USA soccer anymore. For the past few years, it's the same shite over and over.

FTFY
And that was what? Game fricking two of the Klinsmann era?
Dude's been a clown from the jump, it's just taken this long for EVERYONE to figure it out.
He's the Bobby Jindal of soccer.

I mean I had a pretty good time making the semi-finals of the COPA America, but yeah, this last week and the Gold Cup sucked.

I don't think we've played well in a single tournament since he's been here. Maybe the one Gold Cup against Mexico's B team.

Oh, are you referring to the tournament where Landon ran shite?
Posted on 11/17/16 at 12:08 pm to cwil177
It's been 2 & a half years and I'm still not over that yet

The one against sub par teams? Yeah. That one.

Solid Sherlock Holmes usage.

There are a lot of people on this board who defended Klinsmann tooth and nail for that abortion of a decision.
I would love to fricking hear from them now that the man behind the curtain has been exposed.

I mean I still am fine with decision. I don't think it would have changed how far we went or a single outcome.
I do think it was dumb as frick to bring Brad Davis over his arse though.

And you're exaggerating way too much.
We advanced out of a group we had no business doing so in the last World Cup without our only true striker at the time.
The guy needs to get the frick out of the US program, but to say we didn't perform well in that tournament is a joke.

Jurgen did the thing everyone begs him to do. He played guys in their right positions and stuck with a consistent lineup up until the semifinal where he reverted back to the things that make him suck.

This is such revisionist history. Brazil was really the only team who didn't give a shite about because they were hosting the olympics.

This is a dumb line of thinking... Who cares how far we would've/could've gone with LD as opposed to w/o, the fact that he left him off showed either extreme pettiness and/or a severe lack of talent scouting.
Two things you absolutely do not want in a manager.
