Assuming we play Argentina, I think we go all out and "go for it"

If we play safe with beckerdreads replacing jones and classic counter attack, I don't see this working good for us. I could see us having 90 minutes of how last nights last 15 minutes went.
I know it sounds crazy, but we are here in the semifinals and we need to play to win. Big teams don't play scared in the semifinals. We will have our full back line also, which are doing great. We need to give nagbe a chance in jones place.
Argentina is gonna score and we need to plan on that by being on the offensive too.

I don't really know what strategy we should use, but you are right. If we pack the box, it will look like the Bolivia game and they will possess the ball for 70% of the game or more.

I agree. Jurgen was watching that second half too and knows it won't work against Argentina.
Now without Wood we have even more need for a midfielder who can possess the ball in the attacking half.
Now that I think about it, I fear he might try to make Bradley a 10 again and stick Beckerman in Bradley's current role.

It's no secret Argentina is my heart, but I just have to disagree with you.
First, I just want to say I'm excited for the US. Y'all are really playing great. Didn't expect you to win against Ecuador.
I think if you want to beat Argentina, you want to play very conservative and take your chances on counter attacks and set pieces. Of course it's tough, but that style of play has always frustrated Argentina.
If you try to open it up, DiMaria will more than likely excel. When DiMaria thrives, Argentina really plays well. He really is the linchpin for Argentina going forward.

You aren't American? I know you or your family are originally from Argentina.
Isn't Di Maria out with a groin tear? Or did they change his diagnosis or something?

I think we go in with this mentality and try to surprise everybody. I love the USMNT, but if I had to bet it would be on Argentina, so let's go out there and atleast try to win. Who knows, Messi might pull up with an injury, yedlin stifles Di maria, so then we only have worry about the other 9 world class players, piece of cake hahahaa

Argentina has way too much explosive attacking talent for the US to go after them. They will destroy us if we give them space to hit us in transition. Although, I think Argentina is shoving the ball down our throat or 90 minutes whether we like it or not. May as well stay compact and prepare for it.

My father is from Argentina. I was baptized there. He has taken me to World Cups and Olympics to see Argentina play. I am American, but when it came to soccer I was raised to root for Argentina. I can't help it. I enjoy watching the US do well. I really do, and I hate seeing them lose to other teams. But I will root for Argentina.

It's an adductor injury. He is running so I guess we will see.

They should not and will not try to go at Argentina. Prepare for a night of puckered assholes watching 11 men behind the ball
But whatever, I'm pumped.

Pretty much. Then press whoever the DLP is, and force the CBs to make the entry passes and maybe it will work.
If we come out open, we will get torn apart.

I trust the master, GOAT US coach Jurgy to have the proper recipe

Yeah, I agree that it's suicide to come out wide open. . . To much difference in individual quality to turn it into a match full of open space. . .
Like you mention. . . press Mascherano or whoever they want spreading passes from deep midfield, stay compact and just try to keep all 10 from getting pressed back so deep that there's no outlet or runner to play a ball out to start a counter.

The USA is not good enough to go head to head with Argentina. The USA is definitely not good enough to lose 3 starters and then go head to head with Argentina. We have to be organized, smart, and take our chances.

No reason to open up to a team set up like Argentina, they won't attack with numbers. We need to play for 0-0.
If Wood wasn't out we would have someone to challenge Otamendi and Funes Mori who have mistakes in them. Since he's out, we are probably screwed. I'd probably go 4-3-3 with Deuce dropping deep and Fab J and Zardes cutting inside on runs, but that means it's Dempsey getting into Mascherano's space, and that probably won't work out in our favor

That's cool. But you say "y'all" in reference to American fans as if you're not part of that number. Do you not support the us soccer team despite being American?
