I don't disagree. I would have put ox in too but he could possibly start against Basel. So maybe he had decided beforehand to just give him the day off.

Pure speculation.

Gibbs is so versatile and very good at two positions. He was the right call for the sub. Probably saved a goal and Ox just doesn't have the positional discipline with a lead.

Best performance in a very long time, against a true nemesis.

Yeah I'm ok putting Gibbs on to lock down a 3-0 win over Chelsea.

Yeah it's very possible to Wenger decided pre match, but even if he had not he still makes that same Gibbs sub. I would feel different if Chelsea were threatening us some, but they showed no signs of hurting us other than the one through ball.

But if my biggest gripe of the day is getting a guy a confidence boost, it means it is a good day to be an Arsenal fan

I know, I would have loved being there. I've got vacation in October and will be in Nola starting on Oct 5th for a few days. Maybe we can meet up at Finn's for the US game on the 7th.

Finally just watched. Wow is all I can say. Theo was excellent and is now the player Arsenal has needed for a while. Playing like that he is worth every penny. The front 3 really was just overall great today. Sanchez is settling into that role.

I know the season is still early, but this team has the squad to make a real push.

Honestly thank god we picked up mustafi and still have holding as depth. This team has the players and quality to still challenge for the title against a strengthened league plus make quarterfinals at least of champions league. Really excited to see how this all plays out

Also, wtf has happened to west ham

Agreed. Getting Xhaka was big as well. If Coquelin goes out last season like yesterday it would have been Flamini coming on. Holy frick, the middle of the pitch is deep and GOOD.

Fantastic news. He gets a well deserved break, and Xhaka gets some well deserved minutes.

FWIW, the online bashing of Coquelin lately (mostly on reddit) has been absurd. He's been excellent for us this year. He's limited, yes, but he does what he does well. I think people are just frustrated he's keeping Xhaka out of the side.

Also noticed Jenkinson is back in full training, which is nice for RB depth.

When we get Ramsey back, I'll be interested to see if Wenger pairs him with Xhaka.

Yeah Coq hasn't been bad at all. Especially in the Chelsea game. He was having his best game of the season.

I agree Xhaka definitely deserves to be the starter but i didn't want it to come at the expense of our depth. Glad his injury isnt too severe and he'll be back soon.
