The only thing the bothers me about lacazette is possibly sending Giroud to Lyon.

You sign him, but could still ship Giroud, Sanchez, Perez, ox and Walcott.

You wouldn't be in any better position imo.

Okay, fill me in on Mbappe. Yes, he obviously is a gargantuan prospect at nineteen. These sale figures being bandied about are astonishing.

What are the prognostications for the measure of his help next season? Is this guy at 19 an automatic 20-goal scorer in the PL?

He's not coming. We are going after Lacazette now. And yea he'd get close to 20 goals. Look at his performances in the UCL knockout stages last season. He ripped those teams apart for the most part.

The bids out there for Alex OC are ridiculous. 20m, 25m... He was our best player in half our matches towards the end of the season.

Lacazette would be a good grab. If we kept on to most our roster and landed Lacazette and another holding MF I would be content.

Mbappe ain't happening plus I don't like the amount you have to shell out for him. Could have gotten him cheaper before, same with lacazette.

I'd consider signing Lacazette and holding on to Ozil and Sanchez a highly successful window.

Some news from Orstein today.

bbcsport_david

Again as others report Arsenal also had a bid rejected for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar. That seems less likely than a deal for Lacazette #AFC

quote:

bbcsport_david

No bids for Alexis Sanchez yet. May go if price right but may sign new deal. All hypothetical. Arsenal very reticent to sell to PL club #AFC

As reported by others Arsenal are in talks with Lyon to sign striker Alexandre Lacazette. 1st bid was rejected but negotiations ongoing #AFC

The good news is that we are being active in the market. Decent news on Alexis. Selling him to City would cause rioting. The Alexis saga will last all sumer I belive. I doubt he signs unless we make a a couple of big signings. I think the money is right. We just need to show Sanchez that we are serious about winning.

Sanchez was asked about his next move while sitting next to team-mate Claudio Bravo.

Q. "Will you be a teammate of Claudio Bravo at Manchester City next season?
A: "[laughs]. Good question! Right now I'm focused on the Confederations Cup. When this is finished I will see if I stay or if I go. I don't know."
Q: "Is it clear in your mind, or have you not decided?"
A: "Yes it's clear but I can't tell you [laughing]".

Asked whether there was any chance of him staying at Arsenal, Alexis responded “I don’t know, my friend, I don’t know.”

Seems like he really wants to join City.

Don't care he has a contract with Arsenal. Keeping him is a better investment than what ever money we get for him from city.

I can see that argument. But, I could also see where a disgruntled player becomes a nuisance in the locker room and on the field. I mean, how many times did we see Alexis just raise his hands up in the air in frustration and pout on the field last season? Do you think that will happen less, with him not getting his perceived wish of leaving for City? He may still give it his all because he is such a competitor, but who knows how it would turn out.

Even if we do not sell him to City this year and collect some money in return, he can just leave and go there next year and we are left with nothing.

In my opinion, if he wants to leave, sell him and invest the money you make on that sell into buying younger or comparable players who would be happy to play at Arsenal.

If Sanchez doesn't want to move abroad then he can either play it out like a professional or sit on the bench in a World Cup year. Under no circumstance should we sell to another EPL club. I would trade the 50 million euros Sanchez is worth for him playing another year with Arsenal helping us get back into UCL and making a title challenge.

Sanchez has not had a summer off since 2013. Only so many miles in those legs and he drives them hard.

It would be so Arsenal to keep him at 275k/wk and then he can't stay healthy.

I agree that selling to another EPL club is not ideal. But, what if Sanchez starts to create a rift in the locker room and breaks up team chemistry enough that Arsenal aren't able to make a run to get back into the Champions League or a title challenge. Then, you have another wasted season, and you still lose Alexis for nothing.

I mean, there are all sorts of what if's, and I'm just being a negative nancy today.

I look at it like RVP. We handed man u the league and his 23 goals. RVP wasn't the same after that season, he started getting older.

Sanchez will be able to go wherever he wants and be almost 30 and has spent the past 4-5 years of playing non stop. We basically got him for his best years already.

Plus, you then have to trust Wenger to actually spend that money. Even if you get a guy like mbappe, he's not better than Alexis rt now.

It would be such an Arsene thing to do to finally strengthen the squad then sell your best player. Leaving you rt back where you were.

I think that's a good example of this situation. So, would teams like Bayern and PSG know City want him and just offer half of what they are offering?

Also, how much say does Alexis have in all of this. Let's say PSG is offering 30 million more than City. If Alexis really wants to go to City, would PSG also have to offer him more in wages to make sure both club and player get the move done? These transfer situations are still a bit confusing even after following them for almost a decade.

I saw we keep him unless City give us a near world record fee.
