I'm not saying he wasn't useful yesterday. However the only standout game from Ramsey I can recall this season was against PSG. He's not put in consistently top performances. I'm not saying Ramsey can't or won't get back to the place where he's making a difference most matches. I'm just not ready to call him the answer to our CM situation.

I do believe Ramsey has a very good chance to make his case as starter in the last few games this season.

Yeah, he's getting back to doing a lot of the little things right. His runs are always dangerous. He needs to put away a couple of chances to get mentally back to his best. I think the 3-4-3 is bringing out the best in him because we've got more defensive cover behind him. Xhaka can also handle a lot of the distribution, so Ramsey's job is really to make runs, link the midfield and attack, and be disruptive defensively.

If we sell Ozil or Alexis this offseason, I think we end up investing pretty heavily in a Ramsey-Xhaka midfield.

would Ox be put in his position? Or do you think it'd be someone from the market?

Ox has done great but I can't believe we've left Hector out of the team this long. He's not been anywhere near as good this season as he has in the past but man we can't keep him out forever.

I think that (at the moment), the CM pairing moving forward is Ramsey-Xhaka.
We should definitely be dipping into the market this summer though.

I'd like to see Ramsey in Ozil's position. He flourished in a similar role for Wales. I'm stealing this idea from Tim Stillman of Arseblog. Not saying it would work for sure but I think it's worth exploring.

Ox works better from deeper positions where he can carry the ball forward. It makes better use of his dribbling skills. Also he isn't a very good goal threat so moving forward would expose that.

I thought about that, and I wouldn't mind seeing him try it out.
But I said Rambo playing back with Xhaka because Aaron is bigger than Alex.

If we somehow get to 4th in the league, win the FA cup, and the 3 in the back looks good the rest of the way I could get on board with keeping Wenger.

If you can only pick one would y'all rather make the top 4 or win the FA Cup?
FA Cup for me, and we'd still make it into a European competition (albeit it wouldn't be UCL)

I'd say top 4 only because it impacts what we do in the offseason in terms of player acquisition. FA Cup is nice, but it's more of a cherry on top of a shite sundae if we don't get into CL next year.

That said, I hate the repetitive nature of our seasons, where we sneak into the top 4 and then hop out of the CL in the Round of 16 every year. A year off from CL play wouldn't bother me IF we could use it as a springboard in the league next year.

I'd take Top 4 over the FA Cup. It may be a closer comparison for me if winning the FA Cup meant Arsenal got to skip Europa after finishing 5th.

Top 4. We need it to buy big name players.

The march begins today. How about both the Cup and top 4? I'm a little greedy/optimistic..

Why was Kos dropped? And Mustafi over Gabs even though he's been injured?

And damnit y'all, we can't keep Hector on the bench. He'll get restless and want to leave

This why I don't really care for this formation. We have to put Gibbs in the starting lineup and leave Bellerin out.

I saw earlier on some stats website that Gibbs has the best Points Per Appearance of any player in our team. I.E., we win every time he plays. Interesting note. Holding was just behind him.

Would like to see if Bellerin or Ox could play LWB. But I like Gibbs and I'm glad he is getting game time.

Theo has been completely shut out despite a solid season too. 19 goals and he can't crack the lineup. And he's improved a lot defensively.

I'm surprised Theo hasn't played much in this formation, although I suppose it's because when he was captain he said we just "didn't want it" and I figure Wenger has shunned him for it

Well that sucks. Ox has been very good the last couple of months.

I didn't realize Arsenal were on such long of a drought of winning a league match at Southampton.
