well rainieri keeps saying how much mahrez is going to stay so maybe this is good for us. because everything is always the opposite for us when it comes to transfers.

also, downvote?

I've kinda learned how to handle the Brit press. I enjoy reading the rumours, but don't start to get excited until I hear the player is at the Emirates taking a physical.

I think it depends on form and the opponent. I wouldn't say either one is the absolute starter.

I feel the same way. After watching Giroud during the Euros, I'm really convinced Giroud is a unique striker that can be EXCEPTIONAL if we let someone clean up his messes. That Greizmann pairing was filthy, but running a 4-4-2 isn't realistic, so if Ozil becomes a littler more focused on scoring or Mahrez is on the wing, we really might see that same dynamic at work.

Nice to know, Arsene. We just haven't found the "right candidates."

Obviously, fans on both sides of the pond and all around the world are getting ticked off at our annual do-practically-nothing transfer windows.

Are they really calling Xhaka an attacking midfielder? In what sense?

Giroud is a very good EPL striker. Just hits the skids for stretches. He carried us early last year and is capable of hot periods too.

Ground went like 840 mi Utes without scoring. Vardy went 804 or something. Just need someone, like Mahrez, to pick up that slack.

Looks like Mertesacker could be out for up to 5 months. We better sign a CB now.

We needed to before, now it is imperative.

Yeah, Mertesacker is definitely on the Arteta track. I don't think he helps us at all on the field this year.

Either Wenger believes in Chambers, or we buy someone else. I honestly like our CBs, and with Monreal as emergency cover, I think we're okay there, although we are a Koscielney injury away from Chambers-Gabriel and Holding as depth, which makes me nervous.

I'm guessing we are going to sell Debuchy and buy a defender, probably a centerback, and keep either Chambers or Holding or both around this year.

I really hope we get Mahrez. I think that solves a ton of our attacking problems in relatively inexpensive fashion (compared to Higuain's price, for example).

I think they could put an Arsenal kit on a blocking dummy and it would be both more mobile and more aggressive than Mertesacker.

I agree. If this leads us to buying another CB then we got lucky. That said I seriously doubt we sign someone.

Per getting injured is the best thing to happen to Arsenal if it forces Wenger to buy a CB.

Who would realistically be on our (re: Wenger's) radar? I could've seen Umtiti being a great signing before Barcelona obviously bought him. With Arsene in control, I feel like we can sort the outcome down to three tiers:

Pipe-Dream
Raphael Varane-type level of potential and present ability

Incredibly Pessimistic Outlook
Some tall kid he spotted in the stands during the MLS All-Star game

Realistic
Deadline day loan for CB depth from some obscure league

You have to be swinging to whiff. This and Vardy were the only swings.
