So? There is still a very long way to go in this season. He has done more with less when the league placed 3 teams in the UCL semis. That team wasn't nearly as good as this one. Face it, Wenger IS ARSENAL and his record is really remarkable. The Board has given him the reigns since he took over and it has been an amazing run.

They have the best stadium in the PL and the most consistent team.

That's kind of the way I feel. This is the year to do it. Gonna suck if they blow it.

the most consistent team.

But not as consistently good as I would like them to be

My only sticking point on this is that I think this squad with another Cech, Alexis, Ozil type signing (most likely at CF or RW) could compete with the best in world. Now if Arsene is the man that could get them to that level is another question.

We have to be willing to spend money for those sorts of players. In this respect maybe Arsene isn't our guy. This was a down year to begin with in the prem, and our only signing was Cech. We still need that top striker, and defensive mid, and probably a better CB than Per if we want to compete with the Barças and Reals of the world. A proper right wing option would be nice too.

I just think it's unforgivable if Arsene doesn't produce this year. Y'all have waited and been patient for so long. This was the best chance he'll conceivably have for the rest of his career.

United might go for a real manager in the summer and flash cash. Tottenham's young core will only get better. Chelsea will bounce back to an extent and spend heavily. City are about to become a force and will outspend everyone. Klopp will have a chance to actually get good players who fit his system. Leicester might still be around.

That sucked to tie. Don't really fault them, most of the guys worked hard. Thought Campbell was awful, then theo came on and was worse. Flamini sucks and this is on Arsene for being incapable of finding some one else.

The financial constraints were real on the club, that we finished top 4 with Vermaelen, Squillachi and Djourou as our center backs and Almunia in goal says a ton about Wenger.

True and looking back he did a hell of a job. But now you see this team get demolished way too often. This is a trend that's been going on a few years now. I love watching this team play and have been worried about life after Arsene, but this is it. He's not going anywhere, but I would finally be ready if he did.

Every team gets demolished at some point in the season. Chelsea last year to Tottenham, ManU against us earlier this season and so on.

But, we do seem to get hammered more often than any other big team.

I was unable to watch a weekday game, but yes, looks like I'm back to hoping we hold on to a top four spot instead of believing we have a great chance to win the PL trophy.

I dunno ... I kinda put Arsene this season in the same boat as Les Miles next season.

The stars are aligned ... Chelsea way down, City and ManU relatively down ... if not now, when?

We still have the systemic injury problem. This happens every year and is no longer an excuse. It needs to be publicly addressed as a training/rehab/management shortcoming.

I agree with you on all of that. Also, you're my favorite Chelsea fan. Thanks for being a decent human being and not being a dick

I'm gonna be very upset if we fall short, Arsene resigns, and we miss out on Pep bc of Arsene

I know it is wishful thinking, but Arsene is one of the highest paid managers in all of sports across the globe. I know there a few Football managers around making more, but go after Pep. If you cant out bid city then sell him on the fact Arsenal has the best core of young players in the league and give him the freedom to build on that.

I dont know how all that works, but coaches come and go all the time. And I'm assuming a lot of times still under contract.

That's why I said, you had to convince him that with Sanchez, Ozil, Bellerin, Ramsey, Gabriel, Monreal, Coqeulin, Gibbs you have a good group to build on. Add in the solid premier league players in giroud, Kos, chec, cazorla, per.

There wouldnt be need for that much change and not as soon as city, imo.

Just wishful thinking, because honestly if you cant do something like that, better off with Arsene. Dont want to end up like united. They are throwing money at it and cant fix it. Dont think Arsenal could afford to do that.

Tim Stillman crushed it on Arseblog today.

quote:

Arsenal’s current travails tell the story of a very delicately balanced squad. To my mind, Arsenal’s front six functions most impressively when Coquelin and Cazorla form the base of the midfield, with Özil in front of them, Ramsey playing on the right, Alexis on the left with Walcott as a central striker. It has the best chemistry, but to lose a single link in this chain turns the whole structure from handsome prince to poisoned toad.

Could not agree with this more. Ramsey at right wing has grown on me, but I think we look most dynamic in this set up, mostly due to the change in how Walcott works up top and centrally compared to when he is out wide or Giroud is starting. I honestly think an entire season with Walcott as the preferred striker up top could see him net 15-20 goals. You can't match his speed. That man united game was over in 27 minutes, and much of it was thanks to Theo.

We have to almost win out at this point with the Leicester result today I would think. A lot to ask after our recent form
