Sigh. Arsene determined to shoehorn Ramsey inside with Ozil starting out on the left wing in the 4141 ...

Good victory for us. I guess Wenger is finally giving Theo a real shot up front. Ramsey played more centrally with Cazorla shifted out wide. It was semi successful but I think I rather the roles reversed. The back 5 with Le Coq sitting in front of them were great. Snuffed out all Chelsea attacks while only giving up two real chances. I think Wenger approaches the way he manages the end of games much differently from years past. Since the second half of last year he has been defensive in his subs and we have locked down games and protected our leads much better.

Well the preseason treble is complete

Time since Wenger last won a trophy: about 27 minutes.

The Ox playing like he has in preseason is making it super difficult to think of a starting 11 for once Alexis comes back.

Who do you take out? Santi? Ramsey? Coquelin?

Ox is a fantastic sub at 60 minutes, imo.

I'm not the biggest fan of playing Ramsey or Santi wide, but I also hate the idea of leaving either of them out

Ramsey does better in the wide position than Santi, and overall I think it's better for the balance of the team. I'm ok with having Theo up top and Sanchez out wide with Ramsey out left, Coq and Santi in the defensive positions.

Ramsey struggled off and on to connect defense and attack, but he was excellent defensively. All over the field. We are better going forward with Santi in the middle with his ability to ping the ball everywhere. But it worked today.

Thought our back 6 was great. In the attack, Theo isn't a great central option against a deep line like Chelsea. Also, Chelsea's "foul Ozil for the first 25 minutes" strategy worked quite well. He didn't enjoy the hackery much.

Our depth is crazy good. This is our year. I feel it

Also, Giroud was so Giroud-y when he came in. He's exactly what we need v. Chelsea. Big, holds up the ball. But he missed a couple of chances that he has to put away. At least one of them has to be on target.

I appreciate our season-long threads with straightforward titles: "Arsenal 2015/2016 Season Long Thread."

Unlike the others, we don't need to come up with corny titles in an attempt to be "original."

Rotate Santi and Ramsey, IMO.

Go Theo/Giroud up top, Alexis left, Ox right, Ozil at 10, Santi/Ramsey paired with Coquelin.

It gets interesting when Welbeck and Jack are healthy. Jack is better wide than Santi and Ramsey, so he has more options in the rotation. Welbeck can spell Theo or Giroud up top and he can still contribute playing wide.

The competition and depth we have is pretty insane.

GK: Cech, Ospina
RB: Bellerin, Debuchy, Chambers
RCB: Per, Chambers
LCB: Kosc, Gabriel
LB: Monreal, Gibbs
DM: Coq, Arteta
CM: Ramsey, Cazorla, Wilshere
10: Ozil, Cazorla, Rosicky
LW: Alexis, Welbeck, Santi/Jack/Ramsey, Rosicky
CF: Walcott, Giroud, Welbeck
RW: Ox, Walcott, Welbeck, Ramsey

The only place I'm worred about depth is DM, if Coq or Arteta get hurt, and then we could always play two B2B guys, which would hurt our balance but still provide plenty of quality.

Flamini is still on the squad, so we can get a few head tackles in.

True, erased him from my brain when the Galatassaray rumors emerged. He's good depth.

It looks like Akpom might be getting loaned out to Hull a few weeks after Wenger said he wouldn't be loaned out.

Wonder if a new signing is on the horizon! ...

... but don't get my hopes up
