Spring game and packing up for a move into my first home put Arsenal on the back burner today, though I listened to the first half on the way to LSU and watched some of the second in the press box.
Glad to see we got the result. Apparently Ozil set a record for chances created in an FA Cup match or something.

He and Hazard are the two best players based upon current form right now in the BPL. Ozil makes a very difficult game look ridiculously easy.

I guess Arsene and me can call it a draw.
I insisted, when AW was playing Ozil on the wing, that nothing would do but ensconcing him solely in the 10 spot.
However, he and Santi as "floating 10s" has worked well.
Also, I realize the division of labor.
However, since we will be facing a BPL side in the final, I'd rather see Ospina in goal.

Santi has played way deeper than a 10. He's alongside Coqeulin most of the time. The reason it works is because Ozil moves without the ball so well it creates space for the CM behind him to enter that space.

I want Ospina in the final, too, but If the pole is our second choice now and has been playing the cup games then he will probably get the nod. I think he was at least partially at fault for the reading goal, along with Gibbs who didn't close down his man.

I was a bit surprised by how poorly Gibbs played. He always seems way too far up the field when we have possession too. Gave the ball away too much.
Debuchy mainly looked rusty. Not sure I like the fit of him with Ramsey on the right.
It was amazing how much better we looked once Giroud came on.

It's a testament to how much he has improved by how much confidence I felt in the squad when he came in. I just immediately thought that things were going to start clicking right away.

Of course on the tele they said we played a 4-2-3-1 with Ramsey and coq has the holding players, but I felt Ramsey played much higher up the pitch than cazorla did yesterday.

I don't think he gets enough credit. He ddoesn't look graceful like ozil or Sanchez, but he put some moves on that retained possession for us that was desperately needed.
And Gibbs was horrible. It sucjs because he just can't stay healthy enough to put a complete season, but performances like that will keep him on the bench behind monreal.

Ramsey is pretty much on the right, though he will pop up everywhere. I didn't think we looked that bad once Ramsey went to holding mid, though he still likes to attack way too much.

Arsenal plays Ashton Villa correct?
I watched the Liverpool/Ashton Villa game today and they alluded to it but I though Arsenal was in the premier league and they were talking about FA Cup (excuse my ignorance, new to soccer)

FA Cup is a separate competition from the Premier League. It is the oldest cup competition in the world. Open to all teams in England. You can have a team like Manchester United or Arsenal playing in a 1,000 seat stadium with one shower head in the visitors locker room and where sheep could be the primary groundskeepers..

But both teams are part of the Premier league correct? Just out of championship qualification? Even though Aresnal is technically 2nd in the premier league behind Chelsea

Aston Villa and Arsenal are in the Premier League. Every year there are 20 teams. The bottom three go down to the next level and the top three from the Championship move up to the Premier League. It is called relegation and promotion. Some of the best matches to watch at the end of the season are with teams being threatened with relegation. They fight hard to stay up.

Separate completion, has nothing to do with the standings for the regular season. If Arsenal win against Villa it will be the 12th time they have won the cup. Arsenal is tied with Manchester United for the most FA Cup titles.

Ah ok....
Just kept confusing me since I knew Arsenal was in the chase for the Premier Cup title and then they kept talking FA Cup against a team that is near the bottom of the standings.

Arsenal beat Reading yesterday, who are 19th in the Championship. Smaller clubs always make a run. Reading was in the Premier not very long ago.
The only American sport that could have relegation and promotion is baseball because of the vast farm system of the teams. Can you imagine how that could play out?

Is a playoff style competition. It's played throughout the year, like Champions League. Win and advance, lose and you're out.

Would be rather confusing actually....
Especially with teams playing for a couple championships a year even within their division
