I can't believe some of you are ready to settle with Giroud. Anybody who has watched a single game this year should know how much of a detriment he has been. I won't hate on him but Arsenal deserve so much better. Has he been solid? Yes. Has he contributed well? Yes. Still, Henry to RVP to Giroud is a major downgrade. I want a top striker, Giroud will be an awesome second choice next year.

Yea bc Giroud is the reason we lost 6-0, 5-1, 3-0, and 6-3 to top sides. Should we upgrade? Yes. But people who say we need a ST upgrade over a an elite physical DM are just focusing on strikers bc they're sexy. With Walcott, Ramsey, Ozil, and Podolski we can score plenty of goals with Giroud at striker.

And yes he's not an EPL player of the year candidate, pretty ridiculous criticism. I'd love a Cavani, but I doubt we get him unless PSG is really unhappy with him

Bender can be had for around 20 million, a legit striker won't even be in that same ballpark. Giroud has gotten too much heat but he has had multiple stretches he was abysmal. Ozil needs a real striker, Giroud with his back constantly to goal and inability to make runs kills Ozil's abilities. IMO CB and ST are bigger needs, I'm perfectly fine with Ramsey and Arteta if the squad is healthy. Maybe I'm delusional though. A Koscielney or Mert injury would kill this team.

And for that 6-0 Chelsea game, remember who right away had a wide open shot to score first and squandered it like too often this season. Giroud buries that and it's not the same game. Coulda, shoulda, woulda all day though.

No one wants to 'settle' for Giroud. I don't know anyone who doesn't want to upgrade at striker. Where is that upgrade?

Yeah, if the 'single game' you watched was one of his bad ones.

At times, he's been a detriment. At times, he's been a massive asset. Don't paint with too broad a brush.

I agree.

Sometimes, but not always. Remember, Theo can play centrally and looked very good there in limited action this year. But yes, we need a striker.

Mesut just needs runners. He and Ramsey work well together because Ramsey makes run. It doesn't have to be the CF. Mesut's good at playing into feet and making runs, himself.

(Really just arguing to bump us back to the first page, slackers)

So much relief. No pressure until the FA Cup Final.

Good job City.

Thanks. It is rare for me to root against Everton.

I didn't like doing it.

i think theo should only rarely be used as a CF. correct me if i'm wrong, but the only time he played there this season was against spurs. he was amazing, but spurs were shite defensively at that point and he got behind them so simply. i'm not sure he should be used there outside of a few matchups.

Give me a legit list of strikers and what their cost would be. Then we can talk. We need a lot. Sagna, fabianski and vermarlen are gone. So we need a rb, a cb and a gk just to stay on the same level. And we aren't going to get a rb better than sagna.

Lol.

So giroud, our leading scorer, isnt a real striker? I have watched every single game. When he's the only player in the box against stoke, how is that his fault? The Chelsea game was over in 17 minutes. Scoring wouldn't have changed our complete lapse in defense. We may have money now, but we aren't spending it. And before you mention ozil, yes we will spend the money on one player, not several.

Just read Wengers comments. He thinks we are close and only need a few players. He also spouts his usual bullshite that with the world cup, it will make deals even harder because players won't want to discuss until after.

I've said it before but since 4th is now safe I think the team should rest some of the regular starters. Don't need to risk an injury with a trophy within grasp.

I think it'd be nice to reward a couple of young players in each of these matches. No major changes, especially tomorrow, but maybe one or two.

Well maybe nothing too drastic. Not sure if you want guys going into the final without playing for 2 weeks. Maybe have the line up a mix of vets and young guys and then sub some of the vets early.

Was listening to Arsecast Extra last night, and they brought up this discussion.

We've got a lot of team filling to do this summer. CB, RB, CM...plus the need to buy a big striker.

I wouldn't be surprised if we spend 50 million, or whatever large figure you think is possible, but it's spread out over several players, and our biggest splash is a 20 mil striker or CM.
