How many as well as Beckerman did/does for us though?

I mean Beckerman has definitely been our best option there, but he really isn't that good lol. Especially when it comes to playing against superior athletic sides. He also offers next to nothing offensively.

Danny Williams has even scored from the CDM spot in his short time on the pitch.

Go watch him in the World Cup again and come back to me. The shinguardian had a big write up about how much we actually relied on him during the Portugal and Ghana matches.

Was a good read, will try and find it.

This means nothing.

It would honestly depend on the opponent. Not a lot of cover on defense

I believe this to be the correct answer.

If he's playing at a true CDM spot, who cares?

How often have we used a true CDM though? Even Jermaine Jones tried to get forward when he was placed there. You can't just be totally irrelevant in link up play as well.

Every time Beckerman has played...

If his job is to hang back, break up attacks and distribute the ball, I think Beckerman did quite well for a while.

And with Jones, people on here constantly got PISSED about how he would charge forward and not track back quickly enough. He'd wander at times and look like he was trying to be a 10.

Selective memory, baw. There have been plenty of Jermaine Jones defenders on here, myself included.

Jermaine and Beckerman were arguably our two best players last WC.

I'm biased though because I am a new RSL fan.

Correct. This place looked like 1916 Verdun when he was at his craziest.

Cameron could be our new CDM.

This is the obvious choice for me. He did well in the Belgium game sitting in front of Besler and Gonzalez. He seems to me to be the most naturally talented option for that CDM spot.

I've only watched a handful of Stoke games this season but I've seen him play more often in the midfield rather than at the back. He seems much more confident and comfortable playing in the middle of the park.

Doesn't make it false.

Doesn't help that 2 our top 4 forwards have been hurt for some time (Johannsson and Boyd).
