I will just leave it with this--you prefer the consumer going to the hospital not knowing what a single thing cost and see that as better than a couple or three subscriptions?
Actually, I can get the costs and compare them across different hospital systems.
More and more transparency is coming too. Be patient if those are features you are interested in. I know it's a slow process.
Transparency is a big issue.
A while back I looked at a particular cardio treatment with regard to cost and treatment results.
The most expensive hospital did not have the best outcomes. The second least expensive hosptial had the best outcomes but it was the "off brand" hospital that has a bad reputation.
It's all coming.
I'm not against subs per se. I just wanted you to engage you more about them.

Trust the health care providers that spend more on lobbying than any other industry to screw us.
Not me.
Not me.

Anyone that can read financial statements can recognize a hospital's cost are mostly fixed. But here is a link even a doctor can understand.
Good use of the word "mostly". That article, if correct, points to about a 60/40 split, roughly in favor of fixed costs. The point I'm making is that costs vary more than you seem to acknowledge, and there is a fair amount of unpredictability.
The only way your proposed system works is for hospitals to make drastically more than they currently do.- again, they already operate at a 1-3% gain by accepting money for what they bill.
How do the hospitals get more/adequate money for operation without an increase in cost to the patient? And if it does increase cost to the patient, what's the point?

No you are not.
All of those things have been conjured up in your mind.
Then I'm misunderstanding your point. Are you suggesting legislation moving toward your new proposed model or simply encouragement of hospital systems to move to such a scheme?

The best way to do that is to change the pricing model and get government out of the direct purchasing of health care services and let the people receiving the service do the shopping.
Or for doctors to abandon all reimbursement from insurance, billing the patients fee for service directly, and letting them submit their own claims. You'd see a hell of a lot more transparency and standard pricing that way.
But that will never work for hospitals.

What?
The prices will be avaible for you own eyes to see. Heck you can do it now with a little work. I have no idea what you are talking about but you have some clear angst about doctors and hospitals.
The next time you need a procedure done, I'll show you how to price shop. It'll take a bit more work to shop for quality but it's doable.
