My point I guess would be how seemingly easy it would be to boost wages.
Wal-Mart's current net profit margin is a crack over 3%

You don't know shite about business

Everything about business "seems easy" to people who don't know shite about business

No. There shouldn't be a minimum wage.

This could be the most pithy statement ever made on TD!
Raising the minimum wage has always resulted in fewer jobs. Don't believe me, check statistics from the Dept. of Labor.

why would amyone do this? Much more efficient to simply "hire" people to sit on their arse and eliminate the middleman.

Why all this hate on Walmart. They pay their employees more than Target pays theirs.

Wait, I get to subsidize Walmart so they can subsidize their employees? No thanks.

If you as a taxpayer agree to a tax to increase minimum wage, you are simply ignorant of how economics work. No matter how much you raise minimum wage, buying power will never change. Minimum wage in the US exists solely for the purpose of buying votes.

Thoughts?

How about cut taxes and do away with the minimum wage? Now that is something that I could vote for.

Minimum wage does not = living wage. They are entry level jobs.
the idea that minimum wage should be a living wage is the most insane thing ever. If you are making minimum past high school something went terribly wrong

I'd rather tax minimum wage. They get it all back and then some once they file.

No. Increase the min wage and everything goes up to pass the cost on. No one is any better off. Leave it just like it is.

Screw that one dollar crap. I say we raise the minimum wage to 100 dollars and hour! Then everyone would be rich.

Hope this all makes sense. Thoughts? Would you be willing to pay $101/week in groceries instead of $100 to give the plebeians a little more cash in their pocket?

Plus the bigger issue is a $1 raise costs more than $1 when you factor in benefits, payroll taxes etc.... which is why i suggested the fed impose it, they could make the 1% of sales tax free as long as it went directly towards boosting employee payroll. Uncle Sam will still get money back taxing the employees extra $2080 per year.

Come on, man. He's talking about matching Social Security and Medicare.

Your idea is revoked and you should be ashamed.

Edit: Aha, I get it, the sales tax break would offset the matching.

I should be irrevocably ashamed.
